A woman from South Carolina found herself behind bars on Wednesday, a few days after she was accused of assaulting a fellow shopper at a Sam’s Club.

According to WACH, the altercation occurred on Saturday at a Sam’s Club location in Columbia. Authorities explained that a heated exchange over rotisserie chickens escalated when 42-year-old Ashley Murff reportedly struck another woman in the face as the latter attempted to take a photo with her phone.

The friction began when the victim purchased multiple chickens, which seemingly angered Murff. A friend of the victim revealed to WACH that the extra chicken was for an elderly woman unable to wait in line herself.

“That’s when she used a racial slur,” the friend recounted. “She said it twice; she used the N-word twice.”

After allegedly hitting the victim, Murff left the premises. However, she was apprehended a few days later and now faces charges of third-degree assault.

Reports indicated that Murff is a fourth-grade teacher at Winget Park Elementary School in Charlotte. School officials told WBTV that she was suspended with pay on Thursday. Officials also confirmed her suspension stemmed from an off-campus incident which resulted in her arrest.
