EveryPet, a budget-friendly veterinary facility based in Jacksonville, is extending its complimentary cat spay and neuter program to residents of Camden County, Georgia, for a brief period.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Individuals owning cats or caring for stray cats in Camden County can now benefit from free sterilization surgeries provided by the Jacksonville nonprofit, EveryPet.
Typically, EveryPet delivers spay and neuter services across Northeast Florida, with complimentary surgeries primarily available to Duval County locals due to a collaboration with the City of Jacksonville.
However, for a short time, EveryPet is offering free sterilization procedures for both household and stray cats, alongside essential vaccines covering diseases such as rabies and panleukopenia. This initiative will continue as long as the allocated program funds are sufficient.
Given the limited options for cat shelters in Camden County, it is crucial to tackle the issue of street cat overpopulation. Cats have a gestation period of just over two months, allowing them to give birth to several litters, potentially resulting in over two dozen kittens annually.
Stray and feral cats can be brought in any time during regular intake hours, so long as they are in a humane trap. They will also be ear-tipped so that they are easily identifiable as fixed. Pet cats must have an appointment, which can be scheduled by calling 904-425-0005. Caretakers must provide proof of Camden County residency.
Community cat intake times at EveryPet’s Norwood spay and neuter clinic are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
“By working together, we can humanely reduce cat overpopulation and create a healthier future for cats—and the people who care for them,” EveryPet said in its announcement.
