A British woman and her South African fiance have been found dead inside a holiday villa in Vietnam, local authorities have confirmed

The bodies of Greta Marie Otteson, 33, and Els Arno Quinton, 36, were reportedly found in a hotel in Hội An, located on Vietnam’s central coast, by a cleaner on December 26.

Otteson was found on a bed in the first-floor room at about 11.18am local time, while her fiance Quinton was reportedly found on a bed in another room in the villa, police said in a statement.

Local media report the couple’s bodies showed no evidence of trauma or violence and the room had no signs of a break-in.

Police are investigating their deaths after staffers at the villa found their bodies, according to VietNamNet, a news outlet affiliated with Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications.

The Guardian reports Otteson and Quinton had both registered for long-term temporary residence at the villa since July 4 last year.

Otteson worked as a social media marketing manager and Quinta worked as a barista and a musician.

A spokesperson for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office told UK media “we are supporting the family of a British woman who has died in Vietnam and are in contact with local authorities”.
