The fire broke out just before 6pm yesterday in a scrap metal yard.

Hundreds of cars have been caught up in the conflagration.

Numerous explosions have been observed, with crews working hard under extreme conditions.

Firefighters are aiming to stop the fires spreading to adjoining piles of wrecked cars.

Residents have been urged to stay indoors and close all windows, doors and vents.
