An elderly couple have been left terrified after three men broke into their Melbourne home demanding drugs.

The 93-year-old man and his 88-year-old wife were asleep when the intruders broke in, pinning the man down and demanding drugs and money on May 26.

They then punched the man in the face before leaving the room. He sustained injuries to his hands and face.

The trio then left the property by jumping over the front fence.

The couple told 9News that they are trying to move on, but are too scared to leave their home.

“I don’t know what they are thinking when they go around [thinking] ‘you’re a nice little old lady, it’s nice and easy for me thump you and not have any repercussions out of it,” son-in-law Thomas told 9News.

Investigators have released an image of a vehicle seen loitering in the area immediately before the incident.
