Elderly woman hit by truck while crossing the road in Sydney's west

An elderly woman has been hit by a truck in Sydney's west while trying to cross the road using a mobility scooter this morning.

The woman, believed to be in her 70s, was struck by a truck on Fairford Road, in Guildford West at 10:50am.

She was treated by New South Wales paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

An elderly woman has been hit by a truck in Sydney's west trying to cross the road this morning.

The truck driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing. 

Police said they are now investigating how the crash happened.
