Around 600 people were escorted off the Viking Orion, which is currently moored at the White Bay Cruise Terminal.

It is believed the fire impacted one cabin and has since been extinguished.

Passengers onboard the ship are being transferred via buses to alternative accommodation.

9News.com.au has contacted Viking Cruises for comment.
