Lindt Cafe siege site to be turned into wine store

The Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority has approved the proposal from Dan Murphy’s.

The owner of Dan Murphy’s says it’s contacted the families of the two people who died in the 2014 siege and “will take all steps possible to respect victims and survivors”.

A lone gunman took 10 customers and eight employees hostage at the Martin Place café on December 15 in 2014.

Cafe manager Tori Johnson and lawyer Katrina Dawson were killed, as was attacker Man Haron Monis.

Seven years later, in late 2021, the Lindt Café was permanently closed.
