A man has been taken into custody following a tragic accident that claimed the lives of a 10-year-old girl and a woman in a remote Aboriginal community in Queensland.
The incident occurred when a vehicle carrying five individuals crashed on Doomadgee Road in Doomadgee, situated approximately 400 kilometers north of Mount Isa, at around 6:30 a.m. local time today.
First responders arrived to find all occupants of the vehicle suffering from severe injuries.
The driver, a 30-year-old woman from Cloncurry, received emergency first aid but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The remaining four passengers were swiftly transported to Doomadgee Hospital, where sadly, a 10-year-old girl passed away.

Of the remaining three, one is fighting for their life while two are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have arrested a 28-year-old man known to the deceased.
A crime scene has been declared as investigations continue.
Queensland Police are supporting the Doomadgee community and local officers.
They have advised the community that there is no ongoing threat.
