A police officer is fighting for his life after being hit by a car in Western Australia.

The officer was trying to stop a car with allegedly stolen plates when he was hit and then dragged along the road in Ascot, Perth.

The officer has been taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Three men have been arrested by police.
