Search intensifies for man who went missing after falling from kayak

A search is underway for a 62-year-old man who went missing in Queensland after reportedly falling from a kayak.

It is understood the man was kayaking at Tinaroo Dam in Yungaburra, Queensland on Sunday, April 13 when he fell into the water and failed to resurface.

Emergency services were called just after 3.30pm and a search and rescue operation was initiated.

Police on foot, Cairns Water Police, QGAIR Rescue 510 helicopter, and QFD Swift Water Rescue crews were all deployed yesterday.

They continued searching for the missing man until about 8pm, at which time the operation was paused.

The search and rescue team reconvened at first light today to continue the search.

Water police and the dive squad have been joined by SES volunteers and QFD Swift Water Rescue crews today.

The missing man’s family have been offered support services.
