Tyrone Munro, a winger for the Rabbitohs, faces charges following an alleged domestic violence incident from earlier this year.

Authorities informed 9News that they initiated an investigation yesterday after a 24-year-old woman claimed she was assaulted by her partner in Homebush back in April.

Munro was apprehended later the same day and escorted to Auburn Police Station, where he was charged with several domestic violence-related offenses, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stalking/intimidation with intent to cause fear of physical harm, and common assault.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs acknowledged the situation in a statement released this evening, stating they have informed the NRL Integrity Unit about the allegations.

“The Rabbitohs take all allegations of domestic violence very seriously and will take appropriate action if the allegations and charges are proven,” the club said.

“As this is a police matter, the Rabbitohs will be making no further comment at this stage.”

Munro has been granted conditional bail and will face Burwood Local Court on October 30.

The winger has been described as one of the club’s most promising junior talents and has scored 13 tries in his short career.
