Thankfully, the occupants of the house, an elderly couple in their 80s, were not injured during the incident.

This marks the second time in as many days that the property has been targeted, although investigators believe the homeowners are innocent and have no ties to any criminal organizations.

Subsequently, police found the Audi abandoned after it collided near the intersection of Mimosa and Prairie Vale Road.

Over a dozen bullets were fired at the white Holden. (Nine)

The occupants of the vehicle allegedly fled the scene on foot.

During a search of the sedan, police allegedly seized an automatic firearm believed to be an AK-47.

A crime scene was established at the home and the place of the crash.

At 1.30pm yesterday, police executed a search warrant at an address on Woodville Road in Fairfield West and arrested a 22-year-old man.

The man was taken to Cabramatta Police Station and was charged with firing a firearm at a dwelling, as well as organised crime activity and participating in a criminal group.

He was refused bail and faced court today.

During the Fairfield West search, police said they also found a shortened calibre rifle, ammunition, and several mobile phones.

About 6.15pm yesterday, officers stopped a vehicle on Camden Valley Way in Leppington and arrested a 16-year-old boy.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and was charged with a string of offences, including firing a firearm at a dwelling, as well as organised crime activity and participating in a criminal group, contributing to criminal activity.
