It’s a collector’s first and probably final chance to get these Australian and British icons together on the same coin.
The Royal Australia Mint has released its annual coin set for 2023 today.
The $1 coin in the set features a slice of Vegemite toast, with the Vegemite in vivid true-to-life colour, to commemorate the spread’s 100th anniversary.
And on the flip side, is the head of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
It’s the last annual coin set the Mint will release with the head of the former monarch.
Already there has been speculation that her son and successor King Charles III may not take her place on the Australian $5 note, with other options possible.

In any event, it’s one of the final chances people have to get one of the final coin editions that will feature the Queen.
The set is on sale for $33, and a proof version for $130.
They are currently available through phone order, at the physical Mint shop, and through official distributors.
The Mint says their arrival in their e-shop will be “delayed”.
