Mike Trout, the three-time American League MVP and 10-time All-Star is partnering on an 18-hole golf course in southern New Jersey that will be designed by Tiger Woods.

The course will be located in Vineland, New Jersey, 45 minutes south of Philadelphia. Construction is set to begin this year and end in 2025.

The course to be named the Open Trout National – The Reserve, is set to be a championship course and practice range that will also feature a premium clubhouse, lodging, and other amenities including a wedding chapel. Trout is partnering with John Ruga, along with wife Lorie, own Northeast Precast and labels themselves as a state-of-the-art precast concrete manufacturer that is located in Millville, New Jersey.

Trout attended Millville Senior High School.

Tiger Woods and his golf course architecture firm, TGR Design are set to design the 18 hole course and practice range and area for putting and chip shots for short-game work.

“I’m so excited to finally officially announce that we’re doing this project, and doing it in a community that means so much to me,” said Trout. “I was born in Vineland and raised in Millville. I met my wife, Jessica, in Millville, and my parents and siblings and in-laws still live in the area. I could put down roots anywhere in the country, but Jessica and I make south Jersey our off-season home and always cherish the time we get to spend there.”

Trout said partnering on the course was “a dream come true” and it was incredible to work with Tiger Woods.

“I’ve always enjoyed watching Mike on the diamond so when the opportunity arose to work with him on Trout National – The Reserve, I couldn’t pass it up,” said Woods. “It’s a great site for golf and our team’s looking forward to creating a special course for Mike, Jessica, John and Lorie.”

It’s clear that the clubhouse, lodging and other amenities will be something that Trout sees as something different that what might be considered “standard”.

“We’re going to be doing some really cool things from a service and offering standpoint,” Trout said. “Although plans aren’t finalized quite yet, I’ll put it to you this way – this will not be your grandparents’ country club.”

Mike Trout has baseball’s largest contract. His 2019-2030 deal with the Los Angeles Angels is $426.5 million. He has the sixth-highest average annual salary at $35,541,667.
