How to solve today’s Wordle.

Well it’s Wordle time again. It’s also Monday, which may or may not be a good thing depending on the details of your life. For some, it’s a return to the daily grind. For others, it’s an excuse to get back to the thing you love best. And while we think of the weekend as time off, lots of people still work Saturday and Sunday, and plenty don’t start their weekends until Monday. If that’s the case for you, happy weekend!
For me, Mondays are often a day where I can survey the reaction to Sunday evening’s shows. Right now, I’m watching and writing about The Last Of Us on HBO, an adaptation of the groundbreaking PlayStation exclusive from 2013. So far, the show is really good and last night’s episode was no exception.
In any case, we have a Wordle to solve and no time to waste! Let’s do it!
How To Solve Today’s Wordle
The Hint: Not a place you’d really like to get in a race if you’re accustomed to getting medals.
The Clue: There’s a double letter in this word.

Today’s Wordle

I had some lucky guesses today, though not lucky enough to snag this in 2 (let alone 1, which I still haven’t done even after all this time!) I guessed hound probably because I often think about Game Of Thrones and Sandor ‘The Hound’ Clegane is one of my favorite characters. I also have three dogs, so…that could be part of it. And Hound of the Baskervilles scared the heck out of me as a kid.
In any case, apparently this was a terrific guess because I later learned that only 18 words remained after it, narrowing down a much wider field in the blink of an eye. From here, I couldn’t remember if niche had been a Wordle answer already, but it seemed like a good guess since it had both ‘N’ and ‘H’ in different boxes and two more vowels. It turns out that the only better guess would have been the answer. Niche left me with just one possible remaining solution and I came up with it moments later, typing in ninth for the win!
That’s 1 point for getting it in 3 and 0 points for tying Wordle Bot (who guessed slate / briny / ninth the lucky ducky) for a grand total of 1 huzzah. Huzzah!
