Today’s Wordle #477 Answer, Hint And Clues For Sunday, October 9th

Wordle is one of my favorite games from last year. Another is Midjourney. I know that AI ‘art’ is controversial, and I absolutely support artists who are pushing back against the commercial use of AI artwork, but as a fun game to play, I really enjoy it. I can draw decent little cartoons on my own, but I can’t come up with the kind of images Midjourney can generate.

In any case, version 5 of the AI art generation software just went live and it’s done something pretty important: It’s fixed (mostly) the problem with hands having way more than five fingers. Take this image of Snape I generated as part of my Cyberpunk x Harry Potter series:

That’s a remarkably good hand for AI!

This soldier is holding the gun in a realistic way also:

Not too shabby! He’s even keeping his trigger finger off the trigger for safety reasons, which is just responsible gun ownership.

You can check out more of my Midjourney shenanigans on my Facebook page. Again, I don’t endorse using AI art as a replacement for actual artists (or writers, for that matter) but as a fun little game to play on your own it’s pretty neat.

Okay, let’s do this Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: A nautical escape for rich people.

The Clue: This word contains some very odd silent letters.

The Answer:

I asked ChatGPT for the etymology of ‘yacht’ and here’s the answer:

The word “yacht” comes from the Dutch word “jacht,” which means “hunt” or “chase.” In the 16th century, the term was used to describe fast, light sailing ships used by the Dutch navy to pursue pirates and other vessels. Over time, the term “jacht” came to refer to any small, fast sailing vessel used for pleasure or sport, and it eventually evolved into the modern English word “yacht.”

Hunting pirates sounds like fun!

Play Competitive Wordle Against Me!

I’ve been playing a cutthroat game of PvP Wordle against my nemesis Wordle But. Now you should play against me! I can be your nemesis! (And your helpful Wordle guide, of course).
