The Real Housewives is a reality television franchise that we just can’t seem to get enough of. The women have made the series what they are today, producing one-of-a-kind TV moments that we’ll never be able to forget. If you’ve taken some time to binge-watch past seasons of the shows, though, you’ll notice that there’s been a constant revolving door of Housewives that have been on our screens throughout the years.

Like any TV show, the casts of each Real Housewives show are bound to differ throughout the years. However, it got us thinking… what happened to some of our Housewives on their respective shows? The sad reality is that rarely do Housewives ever walk away from a show without being fired. With that, let’s take a look at 8 housewives that have been fired from Real Housewives throughout the years.

8 Dorinda Medley (RHONY)

RHONY’s Dorinda Medley has been adamant that she was not fired from the show and instead just put “on pause.” Dorinda was let go of RHONY after Season 12, which happened to be a pretty rough one for the housewife. After announcing that she wouldn’t be returning, Dorinda made it known that the decision was not mutual. When speaking on Bethenny Frankel’s podcast, Dorinda noted that “I was ready to go back. I was excited about going back. I was planning on going back, and I thought I would have a great year.”

Recently, the talk of Dorinda’s status with RHONY has been a hot topic. Whether it was during her time on Ultimate Girls Trip or in discussion at Bravocon, many have been speculating whether Dorinda was fired or put “on pause.” However, producer Lisa Shannon gave fans some clarity when she was asked about the topic at Bravocon 2022, in which she said that, “I will verify that the words ‘on pause’ were used, […] She went on pause.”

7 Brandi Glanville (RHOBH)

Everyone knows that Brandi Glanville has always been a controversial Real Housewives character. Brandi is known for stirring up drama and fighting with the women from RHOBH, which she ultimately says resulted in her removal from the show. While Brandi left the show after Season 5, she returned during Season 10 as a “friend of,” where she once again began feuding with her castmates.

Brandi has stated that the reason she got fired was for “crossing Lisa Vanderpump” in past seasons. While speaking with RHOC’s Teddi Mellencamp on her podcast, Brandi stated that “I feel you on like once I crossed LVP, I was fired after that because I had lost my audience, no one liked [me] – I was the enemy and I agree with you, like you can’t win after that. I mean I had other issues happening but crossing LVP was like pretty much the end of me.”

6 Tamra Judge (RHOC)

One of the most beloved housewives from RHOC’s reason for leaving the show is a little bit different from the rest of the ladies on this cast. During a 2020 Instagram live video, Tamra Judge revealed more about her firing from RHOC. “I’m not cheap Andy, and that’s why I got fired,” she said over Instagram live.

She went on to explain how she found out the news that she wouldn’t be returning to the show. “I got the news when I was camping. I had no reception, […] I got a text message a couple hours before I left for my camping trip that I have a production meeting, that we’re going full force, I know you haven’t gotten your contract, so I thought, ‘OK, I’m good. I’m good right?’”

5 Monique Samuels (RHOP)

After being a part of RHOP for four seasons, Monique Samuels left the show in a controversial way. During Season 5 of Potomac, tensions between Monique and fellow housewife, Candiace Dillard-Bassett, rose quickly. While the two women were previously friends, their conflict reached a boiling point when the ladies visited a winery and got into a heated discussion.

In a swift moment, their verbal argument turned physical, with Monique grabbing onto Candiace’s hair and refusing to let go. The actual footage from the incident is incredibly tense to watch back. After being pulled away from Candiace, Monique was separated from the group when she eventually attempted to run back into the barn (where they were having the wine tasting). Many of the Potomac housewives reportedly refused to film with her, which ended up with her leaving the show for good.

4 Alex McCord (RHONY)

As an OG New York housewife, fans were shocked back in 2011 when Alex McCord was fired from RHONY. Some believe that Alex’s good nature made her “too nice for the group.” Alex was not the only housewife to be fired after Season 5, though — there were a whopping four Housewives let go all at the same time.

Bravo released a statement regarding their removals from the show, stating that, “it is a friendly departure among the other ladies.” Andy Cohen revealed that production was simply “listening to the fans’ desires,” looking to shake up the show a bit more.

3 Teddi Mellencamp (RHOBH)

Teddi Mellencamp was a Beverly Hills Housewife for three seasons, spanning between Season 8 to 10 before she was demoted to a “friend of.” Despite Teddi’s strong connection with OG Kyle Richards, sources have alleged that she was fired from RHOBH because she simply did not bring enough drama or content. Regarding her firing, Teddi has revealed that she felt “blindsided” by the whole incident while speaking on her podcast with RHOC’s Tamra.

Prior to being *officially* fired, Teddi revealed some interesting details that may have contributed to her firing. Specifically regarding her criticism of production, which she revealed while on Melissa Gorga’s podcast. She noted that, “At the end of my season, I was mad. I texted, the quote I texted was: ‘I’ve trended on Twitter every single week from hate and you aren’t giving me anything else but the negative. Please, I’m doing the work, I’m showing up. I need you to show my life in some other capacity.’ And ultimately, the goodbye happened two weeks later.”

2 Phaedra Parks (RHOA)

Phaedra Parks’ departure from RHOA is one that many Bravo fans have heard about. The controversy stems from the Season 4 reunion of RHOA in which Porsha Williams revealed that Phaedra allegedly told her that their fellow co-star Kandi Burruss had intentions to drug and take advantage of Porsha.

Since leaving RHOA, though, Phaedra has been back on our screens during Season 2 of Ultimate Girls Trip, where she told the ladies she wouldn’t be addressing her removal from the show. When speaking with Entertainment Tonight, though, Phaedra revealed that “we had spoke about it earlier and, so, they chose not to air it.”

She continued on to say, “that was, what now five and a half, six years ago? And there’s two sides to that story. You only heard one and obviously they chose not to play the other side.”

1 Jennie Nguyen (RHOSLC)

As one of the most recent and public firings of a housewife, Jennie Nguyen joined the cast of RHOSLC for one season before being dismissed. When past racist social media activity from Jennie’s Facebook was revealed, fans and Bravo viewers were incredibly outraged and disgusted. Said posts were shared around the height of the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests, in which Jennie posted and reshared memes that included insensitive terminology that referred to protestors as “BLM thugs” and “violent gangs.”

Jennie’s removal from RHOSLC has to be one of the most disturbing firings in the history of the Real Housewives. Instead of being fired for not having “a storyline” like some of the other women, Jennie was removed for racist activity. Regarding the matter, Bravo released a statement that read in part, “We recognize we failed to take appropriate action once her offensive social media posts were brought to our attention. Moving forward, we will work to improve our processes to ensure we make better informed and more thoughtful casting decisions.”
