Alex Scott has taken to her Instagram Story to thank her fans for their messages as she revealed she had been “emotionally drained” following her book release last month. In her memoir, the 37-year-old claimed her dad Tony was “controlling, violent” and “cruel” which has since prompted him to have his say.
During her press book tour, the presenter got emotional as she recalled living in a “toxic environment” during her childhood.
In her latest post on social media, she told fans she was “getting back out there” following a “low” period.
In view of her 1.7 million followers, Alex said: “Thought it was time for me to snap out of being low and emotionally drained and start getting back out there, back out here.
“So, I just wanted to say hi and I really appreciate all the messages that you lot are sending me.

She recalled: “As soon as everybody leaves that night, he doesn’t forget, so then we all know what’s going to happen.
“That was the hardest night. My mum is trying to survive for her kids and then I’m in a room listening to everything go on and just hoping she’s alive.
“I heard everything. I heard her trying to run. I just want to hug my mum but I can’t. We weren’t allowed to show love. That’s the control.

“If we spoke back or didn’t obey orders, didn’t show you were strong – something would happen to me or my brother.”
Alex said “to this day” she still couldn’t hug her mum or her brother, due to that environment.
The presenter’s dad has denied all claims he was ever violent.
Speaking to the Mail Online, he said: “I was raised in a strict but loving Jamaican family and Alex should know what they are like.
“I taught her discipline, I did a lot to help her,” he added.
“Perhaps she is judging me by today’s standards, I don’t know.
“Parents were a lot tougher back then. But I was never violent, that’s just not me.
“I never beat Alex or anyone else in the family or did anything like that.”
He went on to say he has been “collating a lot of stuff that will prove my case”.
