Ever since reality shows took television by storm in the year 2000, it has become more and more difficult to keep up with every show in the genre. After all, there are so many new reality shows coming out all the time that it is hard to keep track of them all. However, every once in a while, a new reality show is announced that instantly seems like it is something special.
When NBC recently released the trailer for their new reality show, Destination X, it instantly seemed like the show has the potential to be something special. In order for fans to realize why they should give Destination X a chance, they have to learn more about it first. For that reason, this article will focus on everything that Destination X’s trailer reveals about the upcoming reality show.
Why Destination X’s Trailer Should Tantalize Reality Show Fans
In the year 2025, the reality show world is still dominated by a lot of shows that premiered many years ago. After all, shows like Survivor, Big Brother, Top Chef, and the Real Housewives franchise are all still going strong.
However, the last several years have made it very clear that there is still an appetite for new reality shows. Considering the successes of shows like The Traitors and Deal of No Deal Island, fans can still get excited about the genre’s future.
In April 2025, the trailer was released for another upcoming reality show called Destination X. Based on that trailer, it seems very clear that reality show fans should be very excited about Destination X’s upcoming premiere.
In the opening seconds of the Destination X trailer, which can be watched on NBC’s YouTube page, fans were already given something to be excited about. That is because the voice of the show’s host, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, can be heard.

In September 2024, Deadline published an article about Jeffrey Dean Morgan hosting Destination X. Since it is the first time he will be hosting a reality show, Deadline’s article quoted Jeffrey explaining what attracted him to Destination X, a show he is also executive producing.
“Destination X captivated me with its blend of travel, mystery, and gaming. I can’t wait to embark on this wild guessing game across the globe as Master of Ceremony, navigating players through challenges that test their mental and physical abilities.”
During Jeffrey’s acting career, he has starred in many movies and TV shows that have left their mark on fans. Since he has been so successful that fans have grown to love him, Jeffrey clearly has very good taste in terms of the roles he chooses. With that in mind, it seems very significant that Destination X is the first reality show that Jeffrey chose to host.
Of course, even if Destination X had a great concept that attracted him to the show, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Jeffrey will be a great host. However, based on Destination X’s aforementioned trailer, it seems like Jeffrey will be an excellent host.
Over the last several years, several people who were already famous for other things have begun hosting reality shows. The most obvious relatively recent example of that is the fact that Alan Cumming has hosted three seasons of The Traitors to date. If Jeffrey Dean Morgan can follow in Alan’s footsteps, he will be a huge success on Destination X.
In the opening seconds of the trailer, Jeffrey’s voice can be heard over an airplane’s speaker system. While adopting a mischievous tone of voice, Jeffrey can be heard saying the following line in a way that teases that Destination X’s cast doesn’t know what they’ve gotten themselves into.
Good afternoon. This is your captain speaking.
Based on what has been said about Jeffrey since he became famous, that mischievous comment perfectly fits Destination X’s host.

A past TheThings article details what it is like for fans to meet Jeffrey. According to that article, a fan revealed that when they called out to Jeffrey from afar stating they loved him, Jeffrey responded by flipping them off. The article makes it clear that it was a playful motion from Jeffrey that the fan loved seeing.
Based on a story like that, Jeffrey seems to have the perfect personality to amuse Destination X viewers as he messes with the show’s cast during episodes.
On top of showing Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Destination X’s trailer gives reality show fans more reasons to look forward to the show. For example, the Destination X trailer reveals that the show has a fascinating core concept. Jeffrey can be heard describing the tasks that Destination X’s players will have to complete to continue to have the chance to win the grand prize.
“You have no idea where in the world you really are. No map, no plan, no clue. This is Destination X. Well, this ought to be fun. In this game, information is everything. Win challenges and I’ll give you clues. You can team up to fly solo. To win a quarter of a million dollars, answer one simple question. Where the X am I?”
Most importantly, Destination X’s trailer hints at all kinds of drama that the show’s first season will feature. For example, one moment from the trailer shows two players sharing what appears to be a sneaky kiss. Many other moments feature the players talking about how they were strategizing to win the game, including hints that there will be a lot of backstabbing.
In the end, the trailer reveals that Destination X will premiere on NBC and Peacock on May 27th, 2025.
Destination X Will Feature Some Reality Show Veterans
During the trailer for Destination X, astute fans will notice that some familiar faces briefly appear onscreen. For anyone who doesn’t know, this article will break down which former reality show stars will be competing during Destination X’s first season.
Before joining the cast of Destination X’s first season, JaNa Craig came in third place during the 6th season of Love Island USA.
A veteran of the Big Brother franchise before he joined the cast of Destination X, Josh Martinez left his mark on that show. After winning Big Brother 19, Josh went on to compete during Big Brother: Reindeer Games, during which he came in 6th place. In addition to his Big Brother pedigree, Josh has also competed on The Challenge multiple times over the years.
Destination X’s third reality show veteran is Peter Weber, who is also known as “Pilot Pete.” After coming in third place during The Bachelorette’s 15th season, Peter went on to be the star of The Bachelor’s 24th season.
Peter then went on to compete during The Traitors second season and proved himself to be the most strategic-minded person in Alan’s castle during his tenure. However, Peter’s strategic game play earned him enemies, which resulted in him being banished and coming in 9th place.
