Have you ever imagined receiving a “Fab-U-Lous” from Craig Revel Horwood or being guided on your footwork by Shirley Ballas? That’s precisely the experience we’re aiming to explore here at the Daily Express. Over the years, “Strictly Come Dancing” has faced its share of scrutiny and drama, prompting calls for a significant transformation. What could rejuvenate the show? Enter “Strictly: The Public.”

The BBC’s success with “The Traitors” demonstrates that audiences don’t always need celebrities to be captivated; sometimes, everyday people are even more engaging. Perhaps it’s time to step away from the celebrity sparkle and allow regular individuals a chance to shine on the dance floor. The idea is already gaining traction…

Former professional dancer James Jordan shared his thoughts with Express.co.uk, stating, “I think the show is great. The format is so solid that even with non-celebrities, it would remain popular. It would be interesting to try a season with non-celebs. I genuinely believe the format is strong enough to work beautifully. It’s a fantastic idea.”

Support for the concept is also growing online. One Reddit user expressed, “Does anyone else think Strictly should have a series where non-celebrities partner with the professionals? Perhaps featuring people who’ve never danced before?”

Others have gone online to call for it too, with one person writing on Reddit: “Does anyone else feel like Strictly needs to run a series where non-celeb people dance with the professionals? Also, people who have never danced before, perhaps?”

Another wrote: “I would absolutely love to be on Strictly. It’s the only reason I’d want to be famous! To be invited onto Strictly.”

Now, Strictly actually did do this once before for Comic Relief, just a short stint in 2015, and it was great. People were nominated for their inspirational real-life stories, but I want more.

I’m thinking Big Brother style, where people of all different ages and backgrounds, with no prior dance experience, sign up to the show and learn to dance. Don’t you think that would be great? It’ll get rid of all of the background drama of the celebrities’ pasts and focus solely on the dancer and the contestant.

It’s also worth adding that a lot of actors are theatre trained so they’re bound to have some dance training, this always riles the public up, so it also takes that out of the situation too.

What do you say, BBC? Ready for something new?
