2023 is just around the corner – and Fraser Olender is excited for the fresh start.
TheThings sat down with the Season 10 chief stew to hear more about his new year resolutions, his plans for the festive season – and why he wouldn’t be opposed to spending a Christmas below deck.
Fraser’s Already Got One Of His Resolutions Down
Asked if he has any big resolutions for the year ahead, Fraser smiles that he’s already checked one thing off his list.
“Quitting smoking would have been one of them, but I’ve already quit, so I’m very glad about that.”
Giving up smoking was just part of a greater resolution, though.
That would be, maximizing his health.
“I want to get into the best physical and mental health that I’ve ever been in,” he reveals.
Aside from that, he’s also looking forward to channeling his energy into the thing he’s most passionate about – his work.
“I want to continue to work my absolute butt off doing what I’m doing, in the hopes and dreams of getting to where I want to be.”
So, just where does he want to be?
“I’m hoping the season will go well, people will like what I do, and the show will be successful.”
Fraser also reveals that while he’s spent more time this year on land, in 2023, he’s thinking of making a return to the open waters.
“I’ve been doing essentially the same job, but for a family on land, as opposed to being on a yacht, and I miss the waters — so I’m thinking of getting back out there!”
What Fraser Is Doing, This Holiday Season
It’s safe to say that Fraser has big plans for the new year.
However, there’s just one thing he needs to get past before then: the Holidays!

Asked what he’ll be getting up to this festive season, the newly minted chief stew reveals that he’ll be spending time with friends.
“This Christmas, I’m going to head off with my best friend and her husband to Barbados.”
And no, he’s not at all sad about trading in a winter wonderland for white, sandy beaches.
“I’m excited to have a Christmas in the sun, as opposed to the snow,” he chuckles.
Why Fraser Wouldn’t Be Opposed To A Christmas Below Deck
That Fraser won’t be spending Christmas working this year isn’t all that much of a shock.
After all, he tells us, “I’ve fortunately never had to have to work over a festive season.”
However, he wouldn’t rule it out if the opportunity did arise.
“I would do it, of course. I think it would be wonderful to create a beautiful sort of excitement around the festive season.”
Fraser’s sentiments on that make sense, given he sees the seas as the gift that keeps on giving.
“Being on yachts and seeing the most beautiful coastlines our planet has to offer is special enough: it doesn’t matter what time of year, or what the occasion is. Just to do what we do and be fortunate enough to see these amazing places is everything to me.”
And, luckily for fans, we get to see snippets of that in Below Deck.
