Brandi Redmond and Stephanie Hollman appeared on the podcast of Savannah Chrisley, where they opened up about their time on The Real Housewives of Dallas.

After appearing on all of the indefinitely canceled Bravo reality series’ five seasons, Brandi and Stephanie shared some behind-the-scenes secrets before admitting they’re much different when it comes to how they handle their finances and revealing what they felt was the “hardest part” of being on the show.

“What’s crazy is, I felt like I was all the drama a little bit, but it’s because you’d be sitting at a dinner table and be like, ‘Okay, we’re not gonna get to leave until something happens.’ And I’m like, ‘I’ll do it. Fine,’” Brandi admitted of the pressures to “perform” on RHOD on the January 10 episode of Unlocked With Savannah Chrisley.

Even Stephanie looked back on moments in which she watched Brandi take suggestions from producers.

“The producers… they would have their cell phone like text message [us] what they would want us to say. And poor Brandi, she would always take the bait,” Stephanie noted. “She’d be like, reading what they said, and then a whole fight would start. I’m always like, ’Nope, not gonna do it.’ People get mad at the people who are most dramatic, but you can’t leave. So you’ll be there till like 3 am until something interesting happens.”

While Brandi often did what she felt she had to in order to keep the show moving, she reached a breaking point after welcoming her fourth child, daughter Brilynn Mari Redmond, with husband Bryan Redmond.

“Even after production wrapped the last season and I just had the baby, they wanted to come in and get some lines, and I was like, ‘I just don’t feel right with this,’” Brandi recalled.

Although Brandi wasn’t on board with the idea of filming, especially due to the complicated birth of Brilynn, during which she had a number of blood transfusions, the producers showed up anyway.

“They show up, and they want these lines, and I’m so out of it, I read the lines, and all it did was make me look more of a horrible person. I was like, ‘I would’ve never said that,’” Brandi shared.

As the RHOD cast members spoke to Savannah, whose parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, were recently sentenced to 12 and 7 years behind bars, respectively, for wire fraud and tax evasion, they couldn’t help but gush over the Chrisley family.

“Going through my deepest, darkest hours, your parents were there for me and reached out. You’re just an amazing, beautiful family,” Brandi told Savannah as Stephanie added, “Your whole family is so nice.”

Although Brandi and Stephanie have a lot in common, the ladies made it clear that their spending habits are very different.

“I did not grow up with the finer things in life. Bryan will be like, ‘Why don’t you splurge and go do this?’ But I’ve always been very conservative with my money even though we’re fine,” Brandi explained.

Meanwhile, Stephanie said, with a laugh, “I’m not [conservative].”

When Stephanie was then asked about the biggest misconception people have of her and Brandi, she said it was their bathroom-forward banter.

“Everyone always thinks we love to talk about poops and farts, and they’ll come up and tell us that they need to go poop right now. It’s really funny. We always laugh at that. People always tell us when they need to toot. It’s so funny and so random,” she shared.

People also falsely assume that Stephanie is “depressed all the time.”

“I talk about depression on the show, and I have dealt with it my whole life, but I’m not always depressed,” she clarified. “I’d like for people to know that I’m doing fine, but… People worry about me a lot, and they’ll always message me. If I don’t post for a few days, they’re like, ‘Are you okay?’ I have ups and downs, but I do have my ups, and I don’t think people really understand that. People always think I’m like in my room crying.“

As for the scariest part of RHOD, Stephanie said the ladies of the show tend to be “fake nice” to one another.

“It’s like high school. Everyone is running for prom queen, everyone wants a center diamond. And some people will do anything to get it, and that’s the scary part — when somebody has nothing to lose, and you have a family and children,” Stephanie stated. “I never wanted to feel like I had a regret of completely destroying somebody, but I feel like some of the people did not care.”

The Real Housewives of Dallas began airing in April 2016 and concluded in May 2021.
