Hip-hop’s needy boyfriend, Drake recently released collaborative album, Her Loss, alongside 21 Savage. The record drew controversy over misogynistic lyrics and accusations that Meghan Thee Stallion is lying about being shot by Tory Lanez — who was recently found guilty and convicted of three charges.
As the backlash was making waves on the internet, Drake was also losing $1 million… Here’s what happened there.
How Did Drake Lose $3 Million In 2022?
Had he won the bet, he would have brought home $2.75 million.
According to Vulture, Drake lost $1 million in December after betting on Argentina to defeat France in the 2022 World Cup final. He reportedly “bet in a market where extra time isn’t counted and the result is determined based on the score after 90 minutes of play.”
This isn’t his first sports wager, though. In November, he lost $2 million in a UFC match after Israel Adesanya lost to Alex Pereira. And while $1 million is a lot to most of us, Drake doesn’t mind shelling out money, especially if it means stopping his neighbor from making complaints about the noise in his house.
He actually bought his neighbor’s house to solve the issue. In his 2015 feature on Future’s song, Where Ya At, Drake raps: “I’ll buy the neighbor’s house if they complain about the noise”. National Post reported that he “allegedly bought the property so he’d no longer have to worry about noise complaints, after having received plenty since moving into the neighbourhood.”
He paid $2.85 million for the house. “Drake’s new property, built in 1955, is a charming ranch-style house tucked away on a peaceful cul-de-sac,” Trulia spilled at that time. “Located on 1 acre, the 4,445-square-foot four-bedroom, five-bathroom home is the perfect cozy complement to the 7,444-square-foot home next door.”
The outlet added that it had “An open floor plan, hardwood floors, and high ceilings are the ultimate example of California cool, while multiple fireplaces and a top-of-the-line gourmet kitchen make this the type of home friends will want to hang out in.”

What Is Drake’s Net Worth In 2023?
According to Sssamiti.org, Drake is worth $260 million in 2023. It grew a lot since his net worth in 2017, which was $135 million. Now one of the highest-paid rappers in the world, the Certified Lover Boy reportedly earns $70 million a year, per Celebrity Net Worth.
Aside from music, he’s also made a lot of money from acting. He started out in 2001 when he joined the cast of the TV show, Degrassi: The Next Generation. He got into music after releasing a mixtape in 2006. He then signed with Young Money Entertainment in 2009. A year later, he dropped his debut album, Thank Me Later — which marked the start of his mainstream success.
As previously stated, Drake has also made real estate investments. In 2012, he paid $7.7 million for his palatial “YOLO estate” in Hidden Hills, California. He bought it from the former owner of Los Angeles’ Saddle Ranch Bar. In March 2022, he listed the property for $22.7 million. Around that time, he reportedly bought Robbie Williams’ 20-acre Beverly Hills mansion. He paid “mid $70 million” in an off-market deal, said LA Times‘ source. With his condo and $6.7 million lot in Toronto, his real estate assets have an estimated total of $100 million.
Let’s not forget that he also owns a private jet worth about $75 – $100 million. In 2022, environmentalists slammed him for taking it on a mere 14-minute trip.
What Is Drake’s Highest-Grossing Album?
Drake’s fourth studio album, Views (2016), is still his highest-grossing album to date. With 852,000 units sold in its first week, it instantly became a record breaker. It went on to spend 13 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 200 chart and sold a total of 4.1 million album-equivalent units.
It had 5.1 million song downloads, 1.6 million traditional sales, and 3 billion streams. Its hit track, Hotline Bling also won two Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Song Performance.
Drake’s 2018 album, Scorpion is his second-most successful record so far. It also landed on the top spot on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart for eight consecutive weeks and sold about 732,000 units. According to Forbes, it was reportedly the most streamed album of that year. Some of its popular tracks were God’s Plan, Nice For What, and In My Feelings.
His latest solo album, Honestly, Nevermind (2022) also debuted on top of the US Billboard 200. However, it only sold 204,000 album-equivalent units. Rolling Stone‘s Jeff Ihaza described the house-driven record as “a collection of blissful dance tunes constructed for embrace and abandon” where “Drake takes a leap further into uncharted realms than any of his peers, offering a refreshing sign of what’s to come.”
