Ella Emhoff captivated onlookers Wednesday night with her daring fashion choice at the WSJ Innovator Awards in New York City.

Known for her preference for menswear-inspired outfits, Emhoff made a bold statement with a striking black lace gown by Helsa, opting for a sheer look that revealed a black thong beneath. This ensemble marked a significant shift from her usual style.

Accessorizing her outfit, she carried the GG Emblem shoulder bag from Gucci and completed the look with sleek black leather Staz Pumps by Jimmy Choo.

Throughout her time in the spotlight, Emhoff has consistently embraced a personal style that leans heavily into menswear aesthetics.

Favoring designers like Thom Browne and Proenza Schouler, the 26-year-old often chooses tailored pieces, menswear-inspired clothing, and classic jeans paired with blazers—a style reminiscent of Diane Keaton’s iconic fashion sense.

As such, her choice of a feminine, lace, see-through dress that leaves little to the imagination was a head-turner.

Emhoff has been out and about quite a bit this month, most recently in attendance at the WWD Honors the night before.

For that event, she chose a plaid double-breasted blazer and a contrasting check midi skirt.

Earlier in the day, she also hit the carpet at the Town & Country Philanthropy Summit, dressed down with a pair of straight-leg jeans and another checked blazer.

While Emhoff did enter sheer outfit territory during the 2021 Met Gala, it was with strategically placed crystal embellishments and a pair of oversized paper bag waist pants.

Could this lace look be a shift in Emhoff’s signature style? Or simply a night off?

Only time will tell …
