Gwyneth Paltrow, 50, took to the stand on Friday in the ongoing trial aimed to place responsibility for damages regarding a skiing collision between the actress and the retired optometrist. The Oscar-winner denies the allegations that she caused the crash at Deer Valley resort in 2016 and is counterclaiming that Terry Sanderson, 76, is the party at fault.
Gwyneth entered the witness box yesterday to give evidence in an eagerly anticipated testimony.
Immediately after the crash, the actress recalled being “confused” and unsure of what was happening, adding that she “froze” but then “got very upset a couple of seconds later”.
She added: “(I thought) Is this a practical joke? Is someone doing something perverted?
“My mind was going very quickly and trying to ascertain what was happening.”

The actress apologised to the retired optometrist for her actions following the collision, specifically for “screaming” at him and using foul language.
She continued: “What you have to remember is that when you’re a victim of a crash, your psychology is not necessarily thinking about the person who perpetrated it.
“After an incident like that when you feel hurt and violated, adrenaline takes over.”
As the trial continued on Friday, the actress revealed: “I really do feel very sorry for him.

“It seems like he’s had a very difficult life but I did not cause the accident so I cannot be at fault for what subsequently happened to him.”
The actress described herself as an “intermediate” skier, “familiar” with the general rules which include right of way etiquette, that those further down the hill have right of way while those higher up must take action to avoid collisions.
Both parties claim they were further down the hill and thus had right of way.
The MCU star added that she “did not believe” Craig Ramon, who previously testified as a witness claiming he had seen the incident and that it was Gwyneth who “slammed” into Terry.
She declared: “I don’t believe he saw what he thinks he saw. He said he was 40 feet away and colour-blind.
“If you have two people in ski gear with helmets on and you’re 40 feet away I don’t know how you can discern who is who.”
Terry is seeking damages of $300,000 as the retiree claims the collision left him with several broken ribs and a severe concussion.
In response, Gwyneth is counter-claiming for only $1 and for her legal fees to be covered.
She explained: “It’s an actual dollar that I’m asking for. It’s symbolic because the damages would actually be more.”
The trial continues next week with Terry expected to give evidence alongside Gwyneth’s children and her husband, Brad Falchuk.
