While Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez don’t seem close and people are always talking about how Gomez feels about Hailey’s marriage to Justin Bieber, Hailey has a lot going on in her career that people should also pay attention to. She definitely deserves some credit for rising above the drama and focusing on her own life and happiness. And while she’s a super successful model who has an engaged following on social media, fans know that she was once a ballet dancer and gave up that dream long ago.
It’s always interesting to picture how someone’s life could have turned out. What would Hailey Bieber’s life look like if she continued as a ballerina, and would everything be totally different?
Would Hailey Bieber Still Be A Model And Influencer If She Hadn’t Quit Ballet?
Hailey Bieber quit ballet because she injured her foot, and it seemed like that was the path that she really wanted to go down. While she is a talented model and social media influencer, it’s hard to know if she would have gone down this road if she had been able to dance professionally.
Considering the positive way that Bieber talks about ballet, it seems likely that she would have joined a company and traveled the world. She went to American Ballet Theatre in New York City each summer and was Clara in The Nutcracker at the age of 12. It’s easy to think that Hailey Bieber would have continued going to this dance school and would have ascended through the industry.
It seems that Bieber has been able to find elements of what she loves about the art form of dance in modeling and influencing.
Although she had to cut her dream short, which must have been horrible and devastating, it seems that she has found contentment in her new life. Bieber told V Magazine in 2021, “I was always inspired by seeing the imagery come to life through the clothes, hair, and makeup. I love being transformed and seeing myself in so many different ways. That has always sparked me to keep doing what I do.”
Bieber was hired by Levi’s to promote their 501 jean, and the chief marketing officer for Levi’s global brands, Jennifer Sey, explained, “Hailey embodies that authentic and optimistic self-expression we felt represented the broad appeal of the 501 jean,” according to Sourcing Journal.
Bieber’s Instagram following is massive, with 49.5 million people following her, and she posts often, showing fans her fashion shoots and occasionally sharing her love for her husband Justin.
Since Hailey Bieber makes money from influencing, it seems to be a more than alright way to make a living. According to Insider.com, she made $150,000 for one Instagram post. The star was in the Netflix documentary The American Meme and explained, “I’ve heard of people making $1 million off of one photo.”
Bieber also mentioned in the movie, “I post a lot of things that I genuinely just like, and I’ve gotten in trouble with my agent being like, ‘Why would you post this? You can get paid for doing this!'”
Would Hailey Bieber Have Started Her Skincare Line ‘Rhode’ If She Still Did Ballet?
While Hailey Bieber created her own skincare line called Rhode in 2022, it’s possible that she wouldn’t have done this, either, if she had continued as a ballet dancer.
Fans are used to celebrities starting their own beauty brands, especially in the past few years, with Kyle Jenner’s lip kits becoming popular and also facing backlash from people who say that they had skin reactions.

Bieber is known for having great-looking skin, so it does make sense that she would create these products. They range in price from $24 to $44 USD and have names like “peptide glazing fluid” and “peptide lip treatment.” There is currently a waiting list for the products.
In an interview with InStyle, Bieber shared that she has big dreams for the skincare line: “I want it to grow and become a beauty media platform. I would love for it eventually to evolve into something where you can make, share, create content, buy, sell — I don’t want it to just be a brand.”
The star also said that she signed up for a virtual class that took 14 days so she could gain more knowledge about skincare.
Hailey Bieber spoke about starting Rhode in an interview with Elle and mentioned how fans associate a certain look with her. She said, “A freshly-dipped Krispy Kreme glazed donut is just so pristine and glowy.”
She also explained that she was motivated by her mother’s skincare routine to do the same thing for her own face: “My mom took such good care of her skin and taught me I should always be lathered in moisture. Since I was a baby, I was just a tiny little glazed donut.”
According to E! News, Bieber also started the Rhode Futures Foundation, and the company helped over 3,000 women with support from the LIFT Family Goal Found, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, and the Accion Opportunity Fund. The focus is on making a living and accessing healthcare.
Does Hailey Bieber Wish She Wasn’t Famous?
If Hailey Bieber had become a successful ballerina, it’s possible to guess that she would have continued modeling as well, and her marriage to Justin would have still thrown her into the public eye.
After marrying the singer in September 2018, Bieber became more well-known on social media and YouTube, and now she is absolutely a household name. But there’s definitely a difference between people being interested in her talent and what she’s doing business-wise and just wanting a picture because of who her partner is.
The star has sometimes talked about the challenges of becoming so famous after she became Justin’s wife. In a 2021 interview with Elle, she said that it is “weird” that paparazzi walk near her when she’s out and try to take her picture. She said of this experience, “I’m still not used to it, and I don’t think I ever should be used to it, because it’s weird and not normal.”
Bieber also said, “In the beginning of our marriage, I just wanted to hide. “She continued, “I was like, ‘Can there be no anonymity? Can I have any of it back?’”
