Despite being one of the biggest up-and-coming stars of her generation, Sydney Sweeney’s growing fanbase seems to be most concerned with her mysterious love life. While her diverse work in Euphoria, The White Lotus, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Voyeurs, and Reality is certainly why Sweeney is a respected actor, her dating history is why she’s a celebrity. This includes her relationship with her virtually unknown fiance, Jonathan Davino. Oh, and of course, those pesky cheating rumors with Glen Powell.
Sydney Sweeney started dating the restauranteur in 2018, according to People, and there’s no doubt that the relationship has changed her life. Aside from that and their notable age difference, little else is known about their dynamic. However, here’s what we do know about their relationship and what it’s actually like to date Sydney Sweeney.
7 Why Sydney Sweeney Doesn’t Date Actors
Despite all of those rumors about the true nature of her relationship with Top Gun: Maverick star Glen Powell, Sydney Sweeney has made it very clear that she doesn’t date actors, writers, directors, producers, or basically anyone else in the film industry.
During a February 2022 interview with Cosmopolitan, Sweeney stated that she has actively avoided dating anyone in the spotlight.
“I don’t date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way and it’s easiest,” she claimed. “I have a great support system.”
Up until Sweeney appeared at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival with fiance Jonathan Davino, he had largely remained out of the spotlight. Aside from the premiere of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Davino never appeared on the red carpet with Sweeney. He was also rarely spotted out with her in public.
Sweeney also never answered any direct questions about her love life or spilled any tea about it unlike many of her contemporaries.
Clearly, this ensures that she’s able to have a “normal” love life where her romantic choices aren’t heavily scrutinized nor is her partner subjected to any of the downsides of fame.
6 Jonathan Davino Supports Sydney Sweeney’s Fame
There doesn’t appear to be much competition between Jonathan Davino and Sydney Sweeney in public. Because he stays out of the spotlight, Sweeney and her work get the full attention of the press and her fans. On one hand, Davino clearly takes a backseat to her fame. However, due to her comments in her interview with Cosmo, it’s clear that Davino isn’t interested in fame. Although, according to Variety, he was made a producer in her production company, Fifty-Fifty.
During her interview with Cosmo, Sweeney went to claim (without naming him) that her partner lifts her up.
“I have people who will battle for me and allow me to be on the pedestal and shine without making me feel like, ‘Oh no, I’m shining too bright and I need to step back.’ “
This is evident in numerous photos and stories on Sweeney’s Insta, where Davino can just be seen off-screen. He’s never featured. This is with the exception of his back in a May 2023 image of the two of them jumping off a boat.
5 Sydney Sweeney Spends A Lot Of Time With Jonathan Davino
Despite the fact that he never appears in her Instagram stories or images, nor at any events, Jonathan Davino actually spends far more time with Sydney Sweeney than meets the eye. For one, the two live together in a house they purchased in Los Angeles. And during the pandemic, when they lived in a townhome not far from their current property, they were quarantined together.

Davino is also frequently around in the background whenever Sweeney is hanging out with friends or getting ready for events. In fact, it appears that he’s often the one taking her pictures. We know this due to various paparazzi images.
While it appears as though Davino is there to be by Sweeney’s side out of loyalty and possibly even protection, Sweeney’s interview with Cosmo reveals that she absolutely adores spending endless hours with him. That may seem painfully obvious given the fact that they’re engaged, but unlike most couples, Davino does appear to be around a lot when Sweeney is working.
In her interview with Cosmo, Sweeney seemed to shed light on this by saying, “I look for a best friend. I need to be able to be with someone who I can literally hang out with 24/7 and never get sick of and we laugh every single day.”
4 Jonathan Davino Is Protective Over Sydney Sweeney
With the incredible amount of attention on her, there’s no doubt that Jonathan Davino is protective of Sydney Sweeney. But in an article by Women’s Health, body language experts claim that most of the images of them together seem to suggest that he constantly has her back.
According to Women’s Health, he always has an eye on Sweeney and is protective in his physical demeanor. This is also evident in the few paparazzi images that exist of him. He’s either guiding Sweney away from the swarm by pulling her away, or he’s keeping a close eye on her from far behind.
3 Is Jonathan Davino Okay With Being Kept A Secret?
Given that Sydney Sweeney never speaks about Jonathan Davino, is rarely seen with him, and almost never wears her engagement ring, many fans have wondered how the former restaurateur actually feels about the secrecy.
At the time of this writing, we simply don’t know. However, everything seems to suggest that he’s totally fine with it. In fact, he can often be seen smiling in the background of images, lovingly watching his partner as she laps up every moment of her fame.

Therefore, fans have no idea if Sweeney is as openly intimate as some of her most famous characters, mainly Cassie Howard on Euphoria.
However, paparazzi shots of Sweeney and Jonathan Davino on the beach reveal a lot more about their physical chemistry than she would’ve liked. While shooting The White Lotus in Hawaii, the paparazzi found Sweeney frolicking on an unpopulated beach with Davino. According to Just Jared, the two were very physical with each other, both in the water and on the beach. Of course, they weren’t aware that anyone was watching them.
