Born in New Jersey, Ezra Miller grew up in a creative household as their mother was a dancer while their father was a publisher. They studied opera at a young age and dropped out of high school to pursue their dream of becoming an actor. In 2008, Miller was only 16 when they made their big screen debut with Afterschool. They began appearing in independent films and earned worldwide attention for their role in The Perks Of Being A Wallflower alongside Emma Watson and Logan Lerman. Called the Prince of Indie, Miller had several critically-acclaimed roles and bagged Flash’s DC comic role in Batman v Super: Dawn Of Justice.
Since appearing as The Flash, Miller shifted focus toward commercial films and worked on several Warner Bros. movies. While their career was taking flight, Miller spiraled into heavy allegations that led to the cancellation of the actor. Let’s look at what led to Ezra Miller’s career downfall.
10/10 April 2020- Altercation With A Woman At Bar
Ezra Miller made headlines when a video of him choking a woman went viral on the internet. The incident occurred at a bar in Reykjavik, Iceland, which resulted in Miller being escorted out of the premises. Two years later, the woman said she was joking around with the actor about a fight, but they got upset and took the comments literally.
9/10 January 2022- Their Cryptic Message To Klu Klux Klan
Just as fast as the video was uploaded, Miller also took down the video after they targeted a few members of the Klu Klux Klan, better known as KKK. They threatened the members of the North Carolina Chapter and even suggested that they use their guns to kill themselves. People were surprised about their stance causing Miller’s name to trend on Twitter for a few days afterward.
8/10 March 2022- Two Fights In Hawaii
While the DC Universe was abuzz with successful releases in March 2022, Ezra Miller made headlines for their disorderly conduct at a club in Hawaii. Based on the police reports, Miller yelled obscenities toward a woman singing karaoke and tried to attack a man playing darts. A month later, he was fined $500 for the charges via a hearing on a Zoom call.
7/10 March 2022- A Restraining Order Is Filed
During their stay in Hawaii, Miller stayed in a hostel with a couple who paid his $500 bail money. The same couple filed a restraining order against Miller, and the reports state that they threatened to kill the man and bury his ‘slut wife.’ It was also alleged that Miller stole money and the husband’s wallet and credit cards. The couple was granted the restraining order, which was then dropped in mid-April.
6/10 April 2022- WB Meeting And Second-Degree Assault
With the release of The Flash getting delayed due to a slew of controversies, Warner Brothers held an emergency meeting to discuss the actor’s misconduct. The production company decided to halt any major releases that featured them. Around the same time, Miller was charged and arrested for second-degree assault after they threw a chair at a woman when they were asked to leave.

5/10 June 2022- They Were Accused Of Grooming
Activist Chase Iron Eyes and his wife Sara claimed that Miller had been manipulating and grooming their daughter since 2016 when she was 12. The parents claimed that Miller controlled her with cult-like behavior and drugged her. Another mother from Greenfield, Massachusetts, also claimed a similar accusation against Miller and received a temporary harassment prevention order for her 12-year-old daughter.
4/10 August 2022- Burglary In Vermont
While staying at their Vermont farm, Ezra Miller was accused of burglary at home. They were accused of stealing alcohol bottles after breaking into a random house. The surveillance footage and statements led to Miller’s charges for entering an unoccupied dwelling without permission.
3/10 August 2022- They Are Accused Of Housing A Women And Her Children
Through an investigation in June, it was revealed that Miller housed a 25-year-old woman and her three children, aged between 1-5, in his Vermont house as a roommate. When police tried to offer emergency care so the children could be away from the establishment with a gun room and marijuana plantation, Miller claimed that the family had left.
2/10 August 2022- Mental Health Issues
Ezra Miller became a black-listed name during the film festival season as their film Dalíland closed the Toronto International Film Festival, but they were not on the invitees’ list. Around the same time, they released a public statement detailing the complex mental health issues and the ongoing treatment.
1/10 October 2022- Pleading Not Guilty
Ezra Miller pled not guilty in a virtual court for their burglary charges in a Vermont residence. They were charged on two accounts: petit larceny and burglary. If convicted of the charges of stealing $900 worth of alcohol, Miller could face 26 years of maximum prison time for their misconduct.
While Ezra Miller had begun gaining worldwide acclaim for their performances, their accusations led to a serious backlash for their projects and credibility in Hollywood. With multiple court hearings and arrests, Miller has continued to work on their mental health issues while the future of their DC character and other projects remains murky.
