Cristiano Ronaldo is a news magnet. He made the headlines when he sat down for an explosive interview in November 2022. The talented soccer star has often split opinions down right the middle, and the bombshell interview was no different. Reactions on social media suggested that there were as many who approved of it as those who hated it.
Morgan and Ronaldo appear to share a special friendship, and the previously crowned FIFA Best Men’s Player was arguably his most high profile guest since he quit his job on Good Morning Britain and started his own show. In the controversial conversation, the athlete hit out at various people and organizations, including Manchester United — the club that had employed him at the time.
Since then, Ronaldo has endured a torrid time at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where his Portuguese national team was knocked out at the quarter final stage by the less-fancied Morocco. In the aftermath of the tournament, he also finally left the English soccer giants and joined Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
Thanks to his brilliant career and a number of other business initiatives, Ronaldo has amassed a net worth of $500 million. A robust private security team helps him to safeguard this wealth, but even they cannot always keep the scammers at bay.
Cristiano Ronaldo Was Reportedly Scammed By A Travel Agent
In September 2021, news emerged that Cristiano Ronaldo had reportedly been scammed by a travel agent who promised him luxury vacations and private jet trips, but failed to deliver.
Instead, the agent allegedly pocketed the money and did not provide any of the services. Ronaldo was said to be enraged by the scam, as he had been looking forward to the luxury trips with his family and friends.
According to The Mirror UK, the agent — a compatriot of the soccer star — somehow convinced him to part with his credit card pin. Instead of using it to foot the expenses for the agreed expeditions, she apparently accessed his funds and managed to fleece him of an amount in excess of $300,000.
The purported perpetrator of the crime was also said not to be a first-time offender, and had been previously linked with scams against other soccer players.

The British publication also reported that she was eventually jailed for her transgressions, after Ronaldo flew to Portugal and gave a statement to the police. The story also quickly caught fire on social media, where the 37-year-old has a massive following.
Cristiano Ronaldo Suffered A Family Tragedy In 2022
Cristiano Ronaldo’s mammoth net worth would have likely reduced the sting he might have felt from any scam executed against him. Yet all that would have been nothing compared to the pain that visited him and his family in April 2022. Together with his partner Georgina Rodriguez, he had been expecting baby twins.
Ronaldo became a father for the first time in June 2010, nearly seven years before he met Georgina. His son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., was born in San Diego, with the identity of his birth mother remaining undisclosed to date. The youngster became an older brother in June 2017, when twins Eva Maria and Mateo Ronaldo were born via surrogacy.
In November of the same year, Ronaldo and Georgina welcomed their first biological baby together, and named her Alana Martina. The twins they were expecting in 2022 were a boy and a girl named Angel and Bella respectively, but the former sadly passed away during childbirth.
Ronaldo spoke about the tragedy in his Piers Morgan interview, where he described it as a “difficult process.” He did acknowledge that the loss at least served to strengthen his relationship with Georgina and their kids.

In February 2023, Cristiano Ronaldo will celebrate his 38th birthday. At that age, most soccer players have usually hung up their boots and started to pursue careers in coaching, punditry, or elsewhere outside the game.
In the eyes of most, Ronaldo’s departure from Manchester United to Saudi Arabia marked the end of his time in top-level soccer. He does not quite see it that way, however, at least going by the comments he made during his introductory press conference after joining Al Nassr.
“My work in Europe is done. I played for all the most important clubs,” said the star, who in the course of his career also turned out for Real Madrid, Juventus in Italy and Sporting Clube de Portugal in his homeland. “I want to change the mentality of the new generation [about football in the Middle East].
In his conversation with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo also revealed how much longer he intended to keep playing. “I want to play two [or] three more years,” he said. “I think 40 will be a good age [to retire]. But I don’t know the future. Sometimes you plan one thing for your life and as I said many times, life is dynamic. You never know what’s going to happen.”
