- What Aaron Judge’s Relationship With His Parents Is Like Today
Throughout Aaron Judge’s career in Major League Baseball, he has been one of the best players in the sport. As a result, Judge quickly became one of the most famous baseball players in the world during his rookie season.
Tragically, far too many celebrities have admitted to having difficult relationships with their parents. With that in mind, it makes sense that after a star rises to fame, fans are sometimes curious about whether they get along with their parents.
While there are many popular MLB players, and some that are hated too, Aaron Judge is notably adored by many fans. As a result of that and the fact that baseball fans tend to be especially passionate, it isn’t surprising that some people have looked into his background.
Once fans learned about Judge’s past, it turned out that his upbringing is a fascinating and heartwarming topic. The main reason for that is that Judge seems to have an especially loving relationship with his parents.
Inside Aaron Judge’s Complicated Childhood
Two days after Aaron Judge was born in April 1992, he was adopted by Patty and Wayne Judge. A pair of teachers who lived and worked in California, Judge’s parents also have another adopted son who is older than Aaron.
When Aaron was still a young boy, his parents didn’t tell him that he was adopted. However, when Aaron was 10 or 11 years old he began to notice that he didn’t look like his parents. As he explained to the New York Post, that realization led to Aaron asking his parents for an explanation.
“I was about 10 or 11 and we really didn’t look alike, so I started asking questions and they told me I was adopted and answered all my questions, and that was that.” Even though learning you are adopted can be a difficult thing for children, Aaron says it never bothered him.
“I was fine with it. It really didn’t bother me because that’s the only parents I’ve known.” While speaking to The Post in 2015, Aaron explained that he feels like he was destined to be brought up by his parents.
“I feel they kind of picked me. I feel that God was the one that matched us together.’’
During another interview with MLB.com, Aaron reiterated his reaction to the news he was adopted. “I was like, ‘OK, that’s fine with me.’ You’re still my mom, the only mom I know. You’re still my dad, the only dad I know.”
In a series of interviews, Aaron has also made it clear that he has wonderful parents. A perfect example of that is what Judge said about his mother during the aforementioned MLB.com interview.

“I know I wouldn’t be a New York Yankee if it wasn’t for my mom. The guidance she gave me as a kid growing up, knowing the difference from right and wrong, how to treat people and how to go the extra mile and put in extra work, all that kind of stuff. She’s molded me into the person that I am today.”
Aaron also told MLB.com that his parents insisted that he prioritize his education and be a well-rounded person which has affected who he is today.
“It’s helped me try to live to a higher standard. They wanted me to always make sure I put education first and make sure I prioritized everything. If I was going to make plans, stick to them. Make sure I’m on a tight schedule and make sure I don’t miss anything.”
Unsurprisingly, when Aaron was a child he didn’t always appreciate the way his parents brought him up the way he does now.
“I wanted to go outside and play with my friends or play some video games, but they were tough on me. They’d say, ‘Hey, you’ve got homework to do. You’ve got to finish your math homework and science homework. Then if you have time left over before dinner, you can go play.’ Something like that. I didn’t like it as a kid, but looking back on it, I really appreciate what they did for me.”
What Aaron Judge’s Relationship With His Parents Is Like Today
Throughout Aaron Judge’s baseball career, his parents Wayne and Patty Judge have been there to watch many of his games as his mom once explained. “It’s been off-the-charts fun seeing Aaron play. We’ve tried to make it to the first of this or the first of that.”
In 2022, Wayne and Patty were there to see their son surpass Babe Ruth’s record when he hit his 61st home run in a single season. In a moment that seems like it is out of one of the best sports movies, Judge gave his mom the ball.
A couple of months before Judge broke that record, he talked to People about how much he looks up to his father. “He’s always been my hero, always a guy I looked up to.”
During that same interview, Judge also explained how much playing catch with his dad when he was young meant to him.
“Looking back on those childhood memories, I could tell he didn’t want to do it. I could tell he was tired. He’d had a long day of work. But he never said no. He never complained, nothing. So for me, that’s why he’s still the hero in my eyes.”
Clearly, Judge’s relationship with both of his parents is truly incredible.
