Kaley Cuoco revealed appearing on The Big Bang Theory was a different environment for even the most experienced actors.

Kaley Cuoco’s Bondage Outfit Caused Problems With Advertisers In The UK

During season 10, The Big Bang Theory became rated R for a specific episode moment featuring Penny and Leonard transforming their room into a sex dungeon. The moment was deemed as passable for the US market. But the same didn’t hold true in the UK as the episode of The Big Bang Theory was banned from television.

In fairness, the moment was very brief. Though it seems like Penny’s outfit for the scene might’ve been too revealing, especially for advertisers on networks overseas.

Decider writes, “While the popular series, now in its tenth season, is known more for its hilarity than controversy, The New Zealand Herald‎ reports that certain advertisers have deemed the racy scene “too hot” for UK screens and have banned the provocative footage from the episode.”

The controversial episode moment can be seen in the video below.

Kaley Cuoco Was Turning Red After A Fan Asked A Question About Amy Being Gay For Penny

Kaley Cuoco put her down after a fan asked quite the question about Amy’s relationship with Penny on The Big Bang Theory.

Ultimately, it made for a fun moment on the show, which was deemed as a nightmare for Sheldon in the story. In truth, it was far from the only time The Big Bang Theory got banned, or ran into trouble because of a certain scene.

Big Bang Theory Ran Into More Trouble Overseas Getting Banned Completely

Chuck Lorre and The Big Bang Theory ran into more problems behind the scenes. This time it was with a massive Chinese steaming company, Sohu. The platform banned The Big Bang Theory, and gave a vague reason for it. Lorre took a shot at the streaming service with a message during the closing credits.

Lorre wrote, “The government of China has decided that “The Big Bang Theory” is not appropriate for viewing. I have to assume there was some sort of formal process involved in this decision. In all likelihood, a gaggle of communists sat in a darkened room and watched a few episodes.”

“I like to think they took notes that were later used to formulate an official document that detailed the corrosive cultural effects caused by the shenanigans of Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, Wolowitz, Koothrappali, Amy and Bernadette.”

Jim Parsons’ Iconic Moment With Kaley Cuoco On The Big Bang Theory Resulted In A Lawsuit Nobody Was Expecting

The Big Bang Theory faced a lawsuit involving a certain string of scenes fans adored between Penny and Sheldon.

Lorre concludes, “I like to think that during these screenings one of them laughed out loud and was promptly sent to a re-education camp on the outskirts of Urumqi. I like to think one of them was reassured by how often the characters on the show eat Chinese takeout.”

“I like to think there’s a Chinese word for shenanigans. Regardless, the whole affair makes me very happy. The overlords of 1.3 billion people are afraid of our sitcom. Exactly what we were going for!”

A tough moment for the show. However, the ban would eventually be lifted, which really should not be too surprising.

A Scene Featuring Raj And Sheldon Also Faced Backlash

The Big Bang Theory faced another potential dilemma, and this time it involved a scene being removed by Netflix, featuring Jim Parsons and Kunal Nayyar. The moment takes place during season 2, with Raj making a comment about Bollywood star, Madhuri Dixit. “Aishwarya Rai is a goddess, by comparison, Madhuri Dixit is a leprous prostitute,” Raj says.

Political Analyst Mithun Vijay Kumar took to Twitter, voicing his displeasure over the scene in question.

“Recently, I came across an episode of the show Big Bang Theory on Netflix where Kunal Nayyar’s character uses an offensive and derogatory term to refer to the legendary Bollywood actress@MadhuriDixit.”

“As a fan of Madhuri Dixit since childhood, I was deeply disturbed by the dialogue. I found it highly derogatory and offensive towards Indian culture and women. So I asked my lawyer to send a legal notice to Netflix, requesting that they remove the episode from their platform. It’s important to hold media companies accountable for the content they distribute, and I hope that @NetflixIndia will take this matter seriously.”

Netflix did respond to the letter, stating that there wasn’t anything they could do, and that the problem was meant for Warner Bros instead. No word on if the scene was banned, but it doesn’t seem like it.
