Kathy Griffin Addresses Rumors: Reveals She Had a Third Facelift

Kathy Griffin is coming clean about recent cosmetic work she’s undergone.

In the Tuesday, August 5, episode of her “Talk Your Head Off” podcast, Griffin, 64, confirmed she underwent her third facelift. “I know that’s so vain!” she said. “I’m so vain for no reason. No one has ever gone to a Kathy Griffin show to see her beautiful, youthful face. You come to hear my jokes, which is what I want.”

Griffin credited the work to her Beverly Hills surgeon, Dr. Ben Talei, and added that she had additional work done to her chin and near her eyes.

The comedian also detailed the consultation process at Talei’s office, which she described as “funny and debasing.”

“So you sit there and then a guy comes in. He didn’t do the Sharpie [on her face] this time, but sometimes they bring a Sharpie, and then he just looks at you,” she continued, “And he’s like, ‘Yeah you got a lot of problem areas, uh-huh, well I can’t fix that, you just have to live with that part, but OK I can do this, and then we’re gonna move this around, and who did your last one?”

The surgeons “can get really, like, competitive,” Griffin joked.

According to Griffin, the surgeon “tells you what’s wrong with you” and emphasizes they want to “manage expectations.”

“What I like to do is take my fingers and just yank my skin as far as I can. And then they get nervous, and they’re like, ‘No, no, that’s not gonna happen.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, look, give me a good yank. I don’t want to see you in six months,’” she added.

Griffin isn’t one to shy away from the realities of life in the public eye, even when that includes her physical appearance. In her 2009 memoir, Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin, she revealed she almost died due to post-cosmetic surgery complications.

“I was told repeatedly, ‘You would be pretty if it weren’t for that nose. You’d work more if it weren’t for that nose. Hey have you considered getting a nose job?’” Griffin wrote. “You would think I had a nose the size of Texas. I was young and impressionable and I was told that enough that I started to believe it, so I got a nose job.”

While promoting the book on Joy Behar’s then-CNN HLN show “The Joy Behar Show” in November 2009, Griffin also admitted to undergoing the procedure because she wanted to “be Jennifer Aniston.”

After Behar asked Griffin why she felt compelled to undergo more surgery despite the near-death experience, the actress answered, “Because I am insecure, and I want to be better. In fact, I’d like to be Jennifer Aniston.”

Behar replied, “But you look very good and you’re not going to be Jennifer Aniston.”

After Griffin insisted she still wanted to be Aniston, she explained why: “Because then my life would be better and I’d be happier than I had ever been.”
