Ace Frehley, the original lead guitarist and founding member of the legendary rock band KISS, is reportedly in critical condition, currently on life support following an accident in his studio.
According to a report from TMZ on Thursday, the 74-year-old musician suffered a brain bleed after experiencing a fall several weeks ago. Frehley is now relying on a ventilator, and sources indicate that his health has shown no signs of improvement.
There are discussions within his family about the difficult decision to potentially discontinue life support, given the lack of progress in his condition.
KISS representatives have yet to provide comments regarding the situation, despite inquiries from Page Six.
On October 6, Frehley announced the cancellation of the remaining dates on his tour, citing unspecified “medical issues” at the time.
“Due to some ongoing medical issues, Ace has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of his 2025 dates,” a message on his official Instagram read.
Frehley is a founding member of KISS alongside Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss. He left the band in 1982 after nine years, but rejoined the group for their reunion tour in 1996. He stayed in the band until 2002.
He also had a solo career with his band Frehley’s Comet, which played together for four years before disbanding in 1988.
Frehley played on KISS hits “Rock and Roll All Nite,” “I Was Made for Lovin’ You,” “Love Gun,” “Detroit Rock City,” and more.
