RHOP's Wendy Osefo Requests Separate Trial From Husband Eddie as Her Strategy Rings Similar to That of Karen Huger, Who Attempted to Have Her DUI Case Dismissed Last Year Due to Legal Technicality

The 41-year-old star of “Real Housewives of Potomac” is adopting a strategy reminiscent of her co-star Karen Huger, who successfully contested a DUI charge earlier this year. Wendy aims to distinguish her defense from Eddie’s following accusations that they orchestrated a fake robbery at their residence in April 2024.

In court documents obtained by Us Weekly on October 22, Wendy formally requested that her trial be conducted separately from that of her co-defendant, Eddie. This move underscores her desire to manage her defense independently.

Currently, Eddie has not appointed legal representation in his case. Meanwhile, Wendy is making efforts to have the charges against her dismissed, arguing that her arrest was “illegal.” As of now, Eddie’s legal strategy remains unclear.

According to the report, Eddie does not currently have a lawyer listed in his case. So, while Wendy has attempted to have the case against her dismissed, claiming that her arrest was “illegal,” it is not yet clear what Eddie’s strategy will be.

Also in Wendy’s court papers, she and her legal team requested that all charges be thrown out due to alleged “defects in the charging document” and asked that all evidence be “suppressed because of an unlawful search or seizure.”

Oddly, exactly one year before Us Weekly reported on Wendy’s approach, PEOPLE shared news that Karen, who ultimately spent six months behind bars for DUI, had requested a court dismiss the charge, also citing a legal technicality.

According to Karen’s attorney at that time, the reality star allegedly incriminated herself during an interrogation before being read her Miranda rights.

“The evidence seized in this case was obtained as a result of an illegal search and seizure,” the lawyer stated. “The defendant was told she was not free to leave. She was not read her Miranda warnings, indicating that the information she would provide them would be used in the filing of criminal charges against her.”

Online, Wendy’s similar strategy didn’t go unnoticed, with Queens of Bravo writing, “No shade, but I’ve seen this before…”

The Real Housewives of Potomac season 10 airs Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.
