Seth Rogen turned his speech at the Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Breakfast into a roast of Kim Kardashian, after the reality star skipped the awards.
“Are we going to talk about how Kim Kardashian didn’t show up? Is that going to happen?” said the “Superbad” star when he took the stage to present Charlize Theron with an award.
Kardashian was meant to be a presenter, but was unable to attend.
Rogen continued of her absence in video footage seen by Page Six, “I’ll say is this… I have seen every episode of ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians,’ I know she is not doing something more important than this. I’ve seen 100,000 hours of her. She’s never done something more important than this. This would be the climax of the show.”
The comic actor then wondered, “What is she doing? I don’t know.” But he added, “She’s honestly… she’s probably dealing with a lot right now.”
A source familiar to the Skims fashion mogul insisted of the reason Kardashian could not attend: “The wrong event date was given to Kim’s team several weeks ago. The error was realized only on Monday, and unfortunately her schedule could not be moved around at the last minute due to a prior work commitment. She was incredibly disappointed to not be able to attend.” The source said that Kardashian, “never cancels.”
Theron accepted the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the annual event. Rogen joked of his costar in the 2019 film “Longshot,” “I was literally physically intimidated to be around her, because she murders people in every movie she does.”
Rogen added of the “Mad Max: Fury Road” star, “our movie bombed and we stayed friends. We know for sure that we can’t help each other career-wise… I’m so glad we get to keep hanging out because Charlize is fun.”
The Los Angeles event coincides with the Hollywood Reporter’s 2022 Women in Entertainment Power 100 list, which this year included Kardashian, as well as Shonda Rhimes, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Viola Davis, Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Aniston, Angela Bassett and more.
