The wife of Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan has issued an update about his health after asking fans to “send prayers” for him. In her latest post, Victoria Mary Clarke said things were looking positive for the singer.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday evening, she wrote: “I just wanted to thank everyone who has been sending good wishes for @ShaneMacGowan.
“He is being treated for an infection and the doctors are confident that he will be OK.
“I am just incredibly grateful to them and to all of you.”

“He’s a bit frustrated, I think. He finds it very frustrating… he wants to get out.”
When asked if he was doing OK, she added: “I think he is, yeah,” adding: “Please don’t get too worried. I’m sure he’ll be fine.”
Earlier this year, the singer said he was grateful to wake up in the morning following his string of health issues.
He told Spectator: “I’m not a morning person, but I am glad to be alive, so I’m grateful to wake up.
“I have beautiful carers who come and get me out of the bed and into the lime green chair. Usually someone tries to get me to do or talk about something.
“Sometimes people visit, or we go out to dinner, or sometimes I end up in hospital.
“If I don’t end up in hospital, I thank Jesus and His Holy Mother and all the saints and angels.”
