Jennifer, aged 67, had suggested that Garcelle, 58, might have stepped back from the show because it was “always all about Sutton.” Sutton, 54, addressed this comment, discussing her falling out with Garcelle and a recent encounter they had on the red carpet. Meanwhile, Jennifer clarified that her comment was made in a moment of emotional vulnerability, spoke on the possibility of Sutton and Garcelle mending their friendship, and shared her thoughts on her recent viral thirst trap.
“How dare she say that? I think Jennifer was having a moment,” Sutton told Entertainment Tonight. “It was resolved quickly, as clearly, she didn’t mean it. I’m not sure why she said it, but it stung and was very surprising for me. I think Jennifer was surprised, too. You’ll have to watch to see how it unfolds.”
Sutton also expressed her sadness over the distance that has grown between her and Garcelle, admitting she feels “very sad” that their friendship is not as close as it once was.
According to Sutton, she’s been “very sad” that she and Garcelle aren’t close anymore.
“I’ve never lost a friend. I’m a good friend, so it’s been very interesting,” she explained.
As for their joint appearance at the premiere of Song Sung Blue, where they were seen posing for photos near one another, Sutton confirmed they spoke.
“We sure did. I said, ‘Hello,’” she recalled.
Then, when asked if the ball is in Garcelle’s court when it comes to making amends, Sutton clarified, “I don’t think anything’s completely up to one person.”
Also speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Jennifer looked back on the comment she made about Sutton and Garcelle, noting that she didn’t “remember saying” it at first, but later realized she said it to someone else.
“My feelings were hurt at the time, and we have been best friends for 18 years. It’s inevitable that eventually we’ll get into a squabble, but it was nothing more than a tiff that hopefully we’ll resolve, but you never know … There might be some terrible surprise in store for us when that episode airs, and it turns out that I said more stuff that I don’t remember. So you’re always held accountable on this show,” she shared.
Regarding whether Sutton and Garcelle would make amends, Jennifer said she hoped they would.
“I love Garcelle so much. I was so sad when she decided not to come back. Sutton, Garcelle, and I had such a good time last season and they’re truly good friends. It’s not like, a friendship for the camera,” she revealed. “They were such a good couple and I really hope that they kind of come to terms. Nobody’s sure what happened and that’s a big question this season, like, ‘What happened with Garcelle?’ Everybody wants to know. But I think even Sutton is confused [about] what happened.”
Also during the interview, Jennifer joked about the thirst trap she posted of herself in her pool/
“I said to my assistant, ‘I wanna get naked but I have to be underwater because it sort of covers all your wiggly wobbly bits,’ and so I did do a thirst trap and it went viral,” she explained.
She then spoke of the RHOBH newbies.
“We have Rachel Zoe, who the crowd went wild when she [came out at BravoCon]. She is an icon. Everybody loves her. She brings the fashion … and she brings that cool girl vibe. And then we have a new girl, Amanda Frances, and she’s called the ‘Millionaire Money Queen.’ She kind of rubbed a lot of people the wrong way this season, which is fabulous,” Jennifer said. “And then we have a new girl named [Natalie Swanston Fuller]. She was married to the guy who invented American Idol. She’s going through a divorce. She’s a fabulous party girl. She’s always like, ‘Let’s dance on the tables.’ … I’m like, ‘Kid, you got a lot of energy.’”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 15 premieres on Thursday, December 4, at 8/7c on Bravo.
