Back in 2015, Teresa found herself serving time in prison after pleading guilty to fraud charges. These charges stemmed from allegations that she and Joe had submitted false information on loan applications. Teresa has since expressed that she signed documents for Joe without fully understanding the consequences.

During an appearance on the Nikki Exotika Show, Teresa revisited the circumstances that eventually led to her incarceration.

She recounted Joe’s request, saying, “He asked me, ‘Can I use your credit?’” Teresa explained, “He needed to refinance a home, and I just signed it without much thought.” Reflecting on the past, Teresa mentioned her eldest daughter’s advice: “She told me to let it go, saying, ‘It’s been over 10 years … Let it go.’” Teresa admitted the incident still troubles her, adding, “I came home from prison, and lost my mom eight months later.”

“[Joe] asked me … ‘Can I use your credit?’” she recalled. “You know, he had to refinance a home. And I just signed it because I never thought anything … [Recently] my oldest daughter said to me [that] she wanted me to let go of that. She’s like, ‘Let that go. It’s been over 10 years … Let it go.’ … Because it just still bothers me unfortunately … I came home [from prison, and] I lost my mom eight months later.”

The host commented, “You can’t get those moments back.”

Teresa agreed, “And that’s why … I knew it was over. Like as soon as I lost my mom, I was like, ‘I’m never getting back with this person again.’ And like I kind of was resentful. Like even when [Joe] left … I felt like a weight was lifted off of me.”

A few weeks ago, Teresa shared a potential update in her relationship with her brother Joe Gorga and his wife Melissa Gorga, amid their longstanding feud.

“My brother and my sister-in-law, I’m not speaking to, but I did reach out [to them],” Teresa shared at the time on the I Do, Part 2 podcast. “Because you know what, time does heal all wounds, and you know, when time goes by, you forget things”

She continued, “I want to be a good example for my children. I have four daughters, and … I always tell them, ‘I always want you guys to get along. Please always be there for each other … Be a family, be a beautiful family. If someone doesn’t get along, just be the bigger person, try to make it work.’”
