Paul McCartney is in great shape, but he did face problems. According to Mirror, that included depression, a rumored heart surgery, and an apparent drinking problem. McCartney himself opened up about the drinking problem and how he would turn to alcohol as a way of coping with stress in his life.

He tells GQ, “In truth, I just took to booze. There wasn’t much time to have mental health issues, it was just, f*** it, it’s boozing or sleeping. But I’m sure it did, as they were very depressing times.”

As for his bouts with depression, Paul was aided by his wife’s story, Linda.

“It’s funny, I remember when I first met Linda, she was divorced with a child and living in New York and having to fend for herself. She got depression and I remember her saying she made a decision,” he added.

Ultimately, Linda “picked herself up by the bootstraps,” and McCartney was encouraged to do the same during his battle with depression and alcohol.

The publication wrote, “The former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney had a heart operation last September to open blocked arteries, it emerged today. McCartney underwent a coronary angioplasty at a private London hospital. A friend of the star said today: “It was a routine procedure and Paul is in excellent health. Fans certainly have no need to worry.”

The post continues, “He immediately returned to a busy schedule, performing in Paris and London the following month. “Anyone who saw him singing with Kylie on Jools Holland’s BBC2 show on New Year’s Eve will have seen that he is back on top form.”

It was said that McCartney was battling this problem since 2006.

There are several factors that have aided Paul McCartney’s mental and physical health over the years. One of them was making the decision to eat vegan foods. McCartney stated that being a vegan is easier than ever these days given all the options out there in terms of what to eat.

“You can get loads of vegetarian options these days, so it’s not like it was like in the old days when you just got the boiled sprout.”

According to Mirror, yoga and meditation have also proved to be positive for McCartney. The publication writes, “Yoga and meditation have also been a huge part of Paul staying fit and healthy – both mentally and physically.”

At the age of 81, Paul McCartney is still showing no signs of slowing down, embarking on his 2023 tour, Got Back Tour. It includes several stops in Brazil, which includes the closing show in Rio De Janeiro in mid-December. All these years later, Paul is keeping things going.
