Prince Harry‘s recent visit to Canada captured significant media attention. So, what transpired during his stay?

The Duke of Sussex traveled to Canada earlier this month to participate in various Remembrance Day events honoring veterans. Among the key gatherings he attended was the True Patriot Love National Tribute Dinner on November 6.

Coincidentally, Harry’s Canadian journey overlapped with his brother, Prince William‘s, trip to Brazil. There, William unveiled the finalists for his Earthshot Prize at the COP30 climate summit. While William’s itinerary was publicized in advance, Harry’s visit seemed to be a spontaneous addition.

Some royal enthusiasts speculated that this was a deliberate move against William. However, Harry’s representatives quickly dismissed these claims, stating that the palace had been notified about his travel plans. Yet, questions remain about the accuracy of this assertion.

Prince Harry’s relationship with his family remains intricate and multifaceted. As the youngest son of King Charles III and the late Princess Diana, Harry shared a close bond with his elder brother, Prince William, during their formative years. However, as adulthood approached, their relationship began to show signs of strain. “There’s always been a part of Harry that…”

While Harry and William’s respective Canada and Brazil trips have appeared to further the royal family drama, that’s not the only situation the Duke of Sussex had to discuss during his recent travels.

The William Backlash

When rumors started swirling that Harry’s Canada trip had been scheduled to outshine William, a spokesperson from Team Sussex stepped in.

They explained that Harry’s trips are announced last minute because the Duke of Sussex is “not afforded the same level of security and protection as other working members of the Royal Family,” per a statement published by the Daily Mail on November 4.

“It means therefore, that the period of time in which we can release details of events is much more truncated than it is for His Majesty the King or the Prince of Wales,” the statement continued. “The events were planned nearly a year ago. The date of the main event, the dinner, is set by the charity, not Prince Harry.”

Harry “can’t choose to move those dates” the spokesperson explained. “We are always guided — as to when we can announce trips like this, by the advice given to us by his private security advisers and the event’s security team.”

Team Sussex concluded with a note that Harry’s return to Canada had months full of planning, and shared that Toronto “has a special place” in his heart because of the 2017 Invictus Games.

The Baseball of It All

Harry gave an apology of another type while in Canada after wearing a Los Angeles Dodgers cap during a Toronto Blue Jays World Series game alongside wife Meghan Markle.

“Firstly, I would like to apologize to Canada for wearing it. Secondly, I was under duress,” he told a local news outlet on November 6. Harry joked that the situation was called “hatgate” and explained himself further.

Prince William and Prince Harry grew up side by side, playing on the manicured grounds of Kensington Palace as children and later attending the prestigious Eton College before they both went off to serve in the armed forces. In 2020, their paths famously and dramatically diverged when Harry left his royal post for the luxe […]

“I was invited to the L.A. Dodgers box or the dugout by the owner himself,” he added. “So, I was doing what I thought was the polite thing to do.”

The Dodgers beat the Blue Jays in the World Series on November 1, days after Harry was photographed at the game.
