It’s no secret that many celebrity couples have met and fallen in love on set. Some examples include Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, who met on the set of Bosom Buddies in 1981 and have been married for over 30 years now, and Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, who first met in 2010 while shooting Green Lantern and are now happily married and currently expecting their fourth child!


In an interview that has resurfaced following the news of her passing, Kirstie Alley called John Travolta the “greatest love” of her life. So, what really happened between these two actors when they worked together in a popular comedy film back in the 80s?

Where You Know Kirstie Alley From

Kirstie Alley was an actress that appeared in countless movies and TV shows during the 80s and 90s. She made her film debut in 1892, playing the Vulcan Starfleet officer Lieutenant Saavik in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. A year later, she landed a regular role on ABC’s television series Masquerade.

After landing several roles in smaller films and TV shows, in 1987, she starred in Summer School alongside Mark Harmon. The movie was a huge box-office success and helped launch Alley right into international stardom.

That same year, Alley joined the cast of NBC’s sitcom Cheers, replacing Shelley long. She remained on the show for six more years, until its eleventh and final season. She even won an Emmy in 1991 for her work on this popular show.

In 1989, Alley starred alongside John Travolta in the comedy film Look Who’s Talking. According to Box Office Mojo, the movie grossed more than $296 million worldwide. Both actors replaced their roles in the following sequels, Look Who’s Talking Too and Look Who’s Talking Now.

From 1997 to 2000, Alley played the leading character in NBC’s sitcom Veronica’s Closet, this is one of the roles she’s best known for. In addition to a successful acting career, Alley also worked as a spokesperson for Pier 1 Imports from 2000 to 2004 and for Jenny Craig from 2004 to 2007.

Kirstie Alley And John Travolta First Met In The Set Of Look Who’s Talking

Look Who’s Talking is a 1989 American romantic comedy film written and directed by Amy Heckerling and starring John Travolta and Kirstie Alley.

In the film, Alley plays an accountant, Mollie, who is pregnant. While growing up in her womb, the baby (voiced by Bruce Willis) begins to make voice-over commentary. Mollie soon meets James (John Travolta), a New York City cab driver who speeds through downtown traffic to get her to the hospital in time to give birth, sparking up an interesting friendship.

Both Alley and Travolta reprised their roles in the following sequels of this comedy film trilogy, Look Who’s Talking Too and Look Who’s Talking Now.

After working together on these movies, both actors forged a lifelong friendship. Her relationship was so close that even the media and fans speculated that Alley and Travolta were in a romantic relationship, although that was not the case.

What Really Happened Between Kirstie Alley And John Travolta In The Set Of Look Who’s Talking

Despite never dating, Kirstie Alley openly spoke about her romantic feelings for her Look Who’s Talking co-star over the years.

She once described Travolta as “the greatest love of her life.” During her time on Big Brother in 2018, Alley revealed she still had feelings for the actor. “I did love him; I still love him,” the Cheers star admitted. “If I hadn’t been married, I would’ve gone and married him, and I would’ve been in an airplane because he has his own plane.”

Following the death of Kirstie Alley, Travolta took to social media to share a lovely tribute to the actress. “Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had,” he wrote. “I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again,” the Grease actor wrote as a caption to some photos of him and Alley.
