Ever since Dwayne Johnson became one of the biggest movie stars in the world, there has been a lot of interest in his personal life. For proof of that, all you have to do is look at the fact that millions of people have watched the show Young Rock, which mostly focuses on Johnson’s real-life background.
On top of fans being entertained by tales of Johnson’s past, many of them also are captivated by details about what is going on in his life today. After all, it is pretty amazing to learn about the stars that Johnson is friends with and the celebrities he avoids.
These days when the media reports on Johnson’s personal life, the focus is on things like his relationship with his daughters, his friendship with Kevin Hart, and his feud with Vin Diesel. While all of those topics are interesting, most of The Rock’s fans don’t know about one of his most interesting relationships.
In the past, Johnson started up a friendship and routinely collaborated with the controversial social media star Logan Paul. Then, Paul and Johnson’s relationship came to an abrupt end after Logan got himself in hot water following a huge scandal.
The Truth About Dwayne Johnson And Logan Paul’s Former Friendship
Over the last several years, there have been a lot of headlines about how Dwayne Johnson and his former co-star Vin Diesel have been feuding. On top of that, when Diesel went public saying that he wanted to put the drama behind them, Johnson didn’t hold back when he called Diesel out publicly in response.
As a result of all the drama that has revolved about Johnson and Diesel, some people may have come to believe Dwayne is hard to get along with. However, the vast majority of people who’ve interacted with Johnson say the opposite is true.
In fact, not only has Johnson gotten along extremely well with most of his co-workers over the years, he has also proven how loyal he is many times. Since Johnson became rich and famous, he has routinely sought out the people who’ve helped him along the way and surprised them with cars and houses as gifts.
Given the fact that Johnson has a well-defined history of being very loyal, it seems remarkable when one of his relationships goes sour. A perfect example of that is the fact that after Johnson seemed to form a friendship with Logan Paul, he completely cut off the social media star.
As interesting as it is to know that Johnson shut out Paul, the really fascinating thing to know is why the pair’s former friendship ended.
In 2016, Johnson and Paul’s relationship began. At that time, Paul announced that he would be collaborating with someone who he admired and he had “the utmost respect for”. Shortly after that announcement, Paul uploaded a skit that he recorded with Johnson.
By the time Johnson and Paul filmed that skit together, Dwayne was already a huge star thanks to starring in movies like the Fast and Furious franchise and San Andreas. With that in mind, it seems unlikely that Johnson would have had the time to forge an ongoing relationship with someone he didn’t like.

After filming their first skit together, Johnson and Paul went on to collaborate several more times. On top of that, Paul released behind-the-scenes footage of him filming with Johnson in one of the social media star’s vlogs. In that footage, the two men notably called each other “bro” and “brother”.
At the height of Johnson and Paul’s relationship, they filmed a series of videos together they called “The Rock and Logan Paul’s Summer Saga”.
Back when he was frequently working with Johnson, Paul made an appearance on “The Kris Fade Show” where he talked about looking up to the wrestler-turned-actor.
“I don’t get starstruck. I do not. And when I was standing next to ‘The Rock’ for the first time, I was shaking like a little girl. He’s my idol. He’s the one guy who I actually resonate with in Hollywood,”
Why Dwayne Johnson Cut Off His Friendship With Logan Paul
Considering that it was so obvious that Johnson and Paul had a connection, and they collaborated a lot, there was every reason to think their relationship would continue. As a result, it seemed pretty strange when the pair stopped being seen together in 2018.
On top of Johnson and Paul no longer working together, things were taken a step further than that. After all, the videos and photos that they appeared in together were taken down.
Several years after their relationship underwent an abrupt change, Paul explained what happened between him and Johnson.
In 2022, Paul made an appearance on the “True Geordie Podcast”. During the resulting conversation, Logan explained that after he got in a lot of trouble after posting a video of himself in an infamous forest, Johnson wanted nothing to do with Paul anymore.
“After Japan happened, I obviously found myself in a hole, rightfully so, that I had never been in before. Extremely low, mentally, and I got a call from my publicist, who also repped Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.”
Johnson continued, “She’s like ‘Hey, Dwayne has asked that you remove every video and picture that you’ve done with him. Maybe in the future, the relationship can be reconciled, but for now, he basically wants nothing to do with you.’ Which I also understood. I get it. I made a grotesque error.”
To Paul’s credit, Logan was very understanding about why Johnson wanted to end their relationship. That said, Paul was willing to say that the whole situation was painful for him. During his aforementioned appearance on the “True Geordie Podcast” Paul remarked how sad he was to have his “hero” react to the controversy the way Johnson did.
