Taylor Swift was recently linked to fellow musician Matty Healy, but the two have parted ways after a very short relationship. Swift recently made headlines for breaking up with her boyfriend Joe Alwyn, whom she dated for six years. There are a lot of rumors surrounding the reason for their separation, some of which involving a denied marriage proposal while others simply claim the relationship had run its course.
Following the public announcement of her split from Alwyn, Swift began to be seen with Matty Healy. He was at several of her concerts for The Eras tour. The two have known each other for quite some time, and it seemed a romance had finally sparked between the two singers. After just a few short weeks, however, the two have reportedly stopped seeing each other. Here’s why Swift and Healy’s relationship was never going to last.
Taylor Swift And Joe Alwyn Split After Six Years
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn began seeing each other romantically at the end of 2016. They had met earlier that year at the Met Gala in New York City.
Throughout their entire relationship, Swift and Alwyn were very private about their lives together. The two celebrities would regularly put on disguises in order to not be seen in public. They also refrained from discussing each other during interviews.
The only inside fans ever got into her life with Alwyn was through Swift’s songwriting, specifically in the albums Reputation and Lover which were written during her time with the actor.
In late April, however, the couple that seemed to be in endless bliss reportedly parted ways due to “differences in their personalities.”
“They’ve had rough patches before and always worked things out,” a source close to Swift and Alwyn told People. “So friends though they would take some time apart but eventually come back together.”
At the end of the day, the two celebrities determined that despite spending the last six years together, they “weren’t the right fit for one another.”
Since the break up, fans have speculated what went wrong in Swift and Alwyn’s relationship. When Swift released the song “You’re Losing Me” post-split, fans speculated that the lyrics tell the real story about why she broke up with Alwyn.
Who Is Matty Healy?
It seemed many people had no idea who Matty Healy was before he started hanging around Taylor Swift. He was spotted numerous times beside Swift at her concerts for The Eras tour before rumors of romance began to circulate.
Though to many his claim to fame is dating Swift, Healy is actually very much a star in his own right.
Matt Healy is a singer and songwriter, and he is most famous for being the singer of the band The 1975.
The band first formed in 2002, and they have done remarkably well ever since. The punk rock band is best known for songs such as “Somebody Else” and “Robbers.” Their most recent album came out at the end of 2022 and is called Being Funny In A Foreign Language.

Taylor Swift first met The 1975 singer and songwriter Matty Healy in 2014. The two have been friends ever since and share the bond of music.

Back when they first met, Healy admitted to having a crush on the “Lavender Haze” singer.
“Let’s just see what happens,” Healy told E! News after befriending Swift. “I mean bloody hell, what am I going to do? Go out with Taylor Swift? She’s a sensation, I wouldn’t say no.”
Healy dodged rumors that he was dating Swift for many years. The two are very close friends and frequently spend time together, but a romance between them seems to not have happened until recently.
Finally, Healy got his wish. Healy and Swift were romantically linked for a brief time in 2023.
Following her break up from actor Joe Alwyn, Swift began seeing long-time friend Healy. He attended several of her concerts for The Eras tour, and the two were spotted holding hands and spending time together in between her shows.
Healy was even seen standing beside Swift’s father during one of her concerts.
All throughout the month of May in 2023, Healy was around Swift. Whether it be at shows, at a recording studio, or just walking around New York City hand in hand, the two were inseparable.
Though it is unclear exactly when they started seeing each other as more than just friends, their romance could not have been longer than a few weeks. Swift was still with her ex-boyfriend until at least late March or early April, and it seems unlikely she immediately jumped into a fling with Healy.
Healy and Swift only dated for about a month.
Taylor Swift And Matty Healy Split
After only a few weeks together, Taylor Swift and Matty Healy have reportedly parted ways.
“She had fun with him, but it was always casual,” a source revealed to People about their break-up. “They are no longer romantically involved.”
As many fans suspected, the relationship between Swift and Healy was never serious. Swift was just getting out of a very serious and long-term relationship with Joe Alwyn. She had no intentions of diving into anything serious so quickly after that break-up.
When taking this fact into consideration, it is clear that Swift and Healy’s relationship was never going to last.
Healy reportedly responded to the break-up with Swift during a concert, saying he is doing alright and has close friends to lean on.
Swift has yet to give a direct statement about the break-up with Healy. It is unlikely that she ever will, especially considering she still has not commented on her split from Alwyn.
