The crash occurred around noon near the southbound lanes of Interstate 77 at the Nations Ford Road exit. The FAA & the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident; further information is yet to be out.

His childhood friend, Bobby Noble, described Myers as a lovable person. “Whether you just met him or whether you’ve known him for a long time, he was just lovable,” Noble said.

Ann Wright, a long-time viewer of WBTV, said she felt like she had known Myers for years. “No stranger to me. I might be to him, but he’s no stranger to me,” she said.

Myers has been remembered as fun and lovable, always smiling and dedicated to his work.

The funeral for Myers is planned for Saturday, while memorial services for Tayag are scheduled for Tuesday.

Jason Myers was born on February 19, 1981, in Salisbury, Maryland, United States, to his parents, Rev. Glenn and Susan Myers. He grew up in Union and Catawba counties in North Carolina.

Myers attended high school in Davidson County and graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in meteorology specializing in communications. He was also a member of the American Meteorological Society.

The famous meteorologist had worked in places including Lexington, Kentucky; Richmond, Virginia; and Abilene, Texas. He worked for companies including ABC 36 and WBTV.

Jason Myers married his childhood friend, Jillian Ann Southerland (m. May 10, 2003), and the couple shared four children: Andrew (19), Lilly (17), Luke (15), and Lydia (13).

“Jason Myers sadly died in a helicopter crash while on a work assignment with WBTV News on November 22, 2022,” states the first sentence on the page.

The fundraiser has crossed its original $15,000 goal, as donors have contributed over $155,000 as of writing.

“The family is overwhelmed by the generous outpouring of love and support after the unimaginable loss of our beloved husband, Father, son, brother, and friend,” a new update reads.
