Doug Meehan Biography

Doug Meehan is an American journalist who is currently working as a co-anchor and WCVB’s weekday morning EyeOpener newscast. Prior to this role, he was co-anchor of the station’s weekend EyeOpener newscast. Meehan comes to WCVB in December 2015 from KPNX-TV in Phoenix, AZ where he served for three years as a news anchor.

Before that, he was the host of “The Daug Meehan Show” on WTKK 96.9 FM. He was also a contributor on The Wall Street Journal Radio Network in New York. Furthermore, he worked for six and a half years as a highly acclaimed reporter and anchor at WFCT-TV, in Boston. While here, he was the market’s first full-time helicopter reporter covering traffic as well as breaking news.

Before this, he worked at WHDH-TV as a reporter and relief anchor. He also worked as an anchor and host of “Good Day Texas” at WFAA-TV for six years before joining WHDH-TV. Coming back to where his entire journey began, Meehan began his career as an anchor and reporter at Cape 11 News in South Yarmouth.

Throughout his career, Meehan has received numerous nominations and awards. He was honored in 2006 by Boston Magazine as one of Boston’s “The Fabulous 40”. Meehan grew up inWest Yarmouth where he attended Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School. Later on, he graduated from Westfield State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
