In December 2005, Amruta married Devendra Fadnavis. Divija Fadnavis is the name of their daughter.
He is the second-youngest Chief Minister in the annals of Maharashtra, behind Sharad Pawar, having assumed office at 44.
During the political turmoil in Maharashtra in 2019, he held the position of Chief Minister for five days before stepping down on November 28. Following the political crisis in Maharashtra in 2022, he took the oath to serve as the state’s deputy chief minister on June 30, 2022.
He is an activist for both the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Fadnavis began his political career in the middle of the 1990s. Since then, he has acquired several leadership roles for his political party and as an elected lawmaker.

While still a college student, Fadnavis actively participated in the BJP-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). In 1992, when he was 22 years of age, he was appointed a Corporator.
At the age of 27, Fadnavis became the second-youngest mayor of India and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation five years later, in 1997.
Since 1999, Fadnavis has represented Nagpur in the Maharashtra State Legislature (Vidhan Sabha).
Following his election to the role, Fadnavis assumed leadership of the BJP’s legislative party in front of the party’s central observers, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, and the party’s National General Secretary Jagat Prakash Nadda.
On October 31, 2014, Fadnavis was appointed as the chief minister of Maharashtra. He is the head of the biggest party in the state assembly. On November 12, 2014, his government received a voice vote of confidence, allowing it to continue in power.
