The American superhero movie Black Adam comes out in 2022 and is based on the same-named DC Comics character. It is a spin-off from Shazam! (2019) and the 11th film in the DC Extended Universe. It was made by New Line Cinema, DC Films, Seven Bucks Productions, and FlynnPictureCo (DCEU). The movie is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and was written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani. Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui, and Dwayne Johnson all play the main character.

Johnson was involved with Shazam! from the beginning, and in September 2014, it was confirmed that he would play the villain Black Adam. However, the producers later decided to give the character his own movie. In October 2017, Sztykiel was hired. Collet-Serra joined the team in June 2019, and he was supposed to leave in December 2021. However, the COVID-19 pandemic pushed this date back. During the next year, four members of the Justice Society of America (JSA) were added to the cast, and Haines and Noshirvani rewrote the script. From April to August 2021, the movie was shot at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, and in Los Angeles, California.

The world premiere of Black Adam was on October 3, 2022, in Mexico City. Warner Bros. Pictures plans to release the movie in the United States on October 21, 2022. It got mixed reviews from critics. They liked the action scenes, the visual effects, and Johnson’s performance, but they didn’t like the political themes or the villain.

Finally, the one movie star who was born to be a superhero has stepped in front of the greenscreen. Dwayne Johnson made his name in the WWE wrestling ring, where he wore Spandex. Now, he’s back in stretchy fabric as Black Adam, the 5,000-year-old former slave who fought for glory in the DC Extended Universe. He is the once and future king of the mysterious made-up Middle Eastern country of Kahndaq. He has now been reborn into the modern world, where ordinary Kahndaqians want someone to free them from the tyrannical control of the neocolonial corporate-military complex.

Johnson is a great superhero because of his huge size, huge head, and ability to be funny without saying anything. Most men his age have a fold of fat across their stomachs. Johnson, on the other hand, has one along the back of his head. Johnson is funny, witty, and built like the stereotypical outdoor brick-built bathroom. He is a good fit to make the superhero movie into a surrealist action comedy. It’s a shame that all the other DC heroes crowding into the action aren’t really in his league, but Viola Davis’s short cameo as Amanda Waller, head of Task Force X, adds a touch of danger.

When the Kahndaqi resistance fighter and archaeologist Adrianna (Sarah Shahi) finds the ancient crown made of the powerful substance eternium, she sets off a chain of events that frees Johnson’s mighty Adam. But the Justice Society of America steps in. They can’t stand this new rogue fighter, so they have to stop him or convince him to work with them. They are Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell). To be honest, they aren’t very charismatic, and they take attention away from Adam’s difficult struggle with his destiny But Johnson has what it takes.

Not long into “Black Adam,” a young boy looks up at Dwayne Johnson’s muscled hulk and says, “We need a superhero right now.” Kid, you talk for yourself.

Do we need another superhero with a complicated backstory that goes back thousands of years and has to do something crazy? Do we really need another group of low-level heroes to make it hard to see what’s important? We’ve seen almost 40 movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and 12 in the DC Cinematic Universe. You can almost smell the smoke now, can’t you?

“Black Adam” isn’t bad, but it’s boring and takes ideas from other movies like a supervillain of intellectual property. But Johnson is a natural in the lead role. He combines strength with humor and is able to say the lines that need to be said in a wooden way. It’s hard to believe that he hasn’t been the main character in a DC or Marvel superhero movie until now. I mean, come on, he looks like a superhero even when he’s just wearing regular clothes.

Like Marvel’s “Eternals,” “Black Adam” starts off slowly with the complicated story of our setting: Kahndaq, a fictional Middle Eastern kingdom in 2,600 B.C. with wizards, a bloodthirsty king, a magical crown, and Eternium, a rare metal ore with energy-manipulating properties (hello, Vibranium from “Black Panther”).
