Who is John Hanmer?

John Hanmers was best known for serving on BBC as a racing commentator from 1972 to 2003. He also worked as Sir Peter O’Sullivan’s assistant from 1971 to 1997 He has worked alongside Legends such as Jim McGrath, Julian Wilson, and O’Sullivan. 

He was also a former jockey’s agent. John Hanmer was awarded the President award at HWPA awards last year. 

Sadly the long-serving commentator of BBC passed away at his home on November 28. He was 82 years old at the time of his demise. He was survived by his wife, Gillie.
