Lewis Tan Earlyn Life

The 4th of February, 1987 found Lewis Singwah Tan being brought into the world in Salford, England. Although he spent significant time in China, France, Thailand, and Spain during his childhood, the majority of his formative years were spent in Los Angeles. Tan considers himself to be of mixed ancestry, having Chinese and British blood in him. His father, Philip Tan, is a Chinese Singaporean martial artist, actor, and stunt coordinator. He also has a background in the film industry. His mother, Joanne Cassidy, is a British fashion model who has since retired from the industry. His father took a job as a fight coordinator on Tim Burton’s version of Batman, which led to the relocation of the entire family to Los Angeles. He has three younger brothers who are all younger than him. Sam Tan, who is his younger brother, also works in the acting industry. Evan Tan, his younger brother, is a photographer who works out of Los Angeles. His work has been included on the album art for songs by musicians including Kali Uchis and Zack Villere. When Tan was young, his father began instructing him in various forms of martial arts.
